Rig looks great with the lift/wheel/tire combo!
Thanks! I still need to cut and hammer things in the back of the front wheel well…it still rubs

Hidden snorkel going in. I hope this works.

At first I tried a 4” diameter rigid metal pipe with a 90* silicone elbow (4” to 3.5” elbow), but that didn’t fit.

So, I took the stock factory rubber intake end and cut the end and attached it to a 3” flexible air intake hose with metal ends.

Used 4” clamps to attach the factory rubber end to the new 3” flexible air intake with metal end caps.

It fits way better and it’s attached pretty solidly. There’s a blue-like ring in one of the photos…that’s the metal clamp that’s attached pretty tight over the factory rubber end and the new 3” flexible air intake hose with metal end cap.

Well…I changed my mind. I put back the stock rubber end cap and covered it with a water/dust sock.

I still have 75% of my wheel liner in there to protect against water splashes

The water sock is also called a pre filter that’s dust and waterproof.

It helps a little but not much. And it requires cleaning

Well…I decided to go with the metal 3.5” diameter pipe 12” long and the silicone 90* elbow…

I went for it because I realized there were a lot ways water can penetrate the cut up wheel liner.

When you get under there, you can see the cut up liner had big areas where water could go into the fender well.

Had to be winched at the V-Notch…the last obstacle and hardest obstacle at the Miller Jeep Trail…but made it without any injuries

I forgot to mention that I got winched from the recovery points that came in my Restless Offroad front bumper.

I’m glad I reinforced the bumper with the Goliath Recovery Point Bracket and bumper support.

Bumper was secure and I was confident that the Restless Offroad front bumper wouldn’t rip off the factory frame horns!

Getting ready for Moab…I heard that a front camera is very useful on the Moab trails especially when you are seeing sky…

I’m not ready to install wires so Im experimenting with this Insta360 X5 camera mounted on my front bumper and live streaming to my iPhone or iPad via private WiFi

I tested it out at the Miller Jeep trail in SoCal. Here’s my pros and cons from one trip and me being a newbie Insta360 user

Pros:
1. No wires to install
2. Easy mount on front bumper
3. Live wireless feed to my iPhone on the insta360 app
4. You can adjust on the app which direction you are seeing (up, down, left, right)
5. I can kinda tell there’s a road ahead of me

Cons:
1. Battery only lasts 1 hour (I have two batteries and plan to order two more)
2. Camera overheats after 1.5 hours of continuous recording in the sun while mounted on bumper
3. Makes everything look flat…can’t really see big dips or boulders

I was hung up on my driver’s side rock slider and was in a bad line. But, yeah, I only needed a tiny pull

So beautiful up there. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah…fantastic scenery, great weather in the high 70s, and the obstacles were great. Trip turned out perfect and I was driving 80 mph (speed limit in Utah) coming home and drove straight as an arrow and purred like a kitten….well…other than all the squeaks, cut muffler, and mud terrains

I finally converted the proprietary Lexus GX470 trailer plug to a US standard 7-pin and 4-pin trailer plug.

Not that I tow anything, but I wanted to wire some extra 15” LED tail/brake lights off the trailer plug to each side of my rear bumper crossmember on my 2003 GX470.

I felt like more lights are needed now that I have a tire swingout blocking the back.

So, I killed two birds with one stone for about $50.

Oh and it required a lot of troubleshooting using a multimeter to figure out which wires in the GX470 trailer connectors were for what function (left turn, right turn, brakes, power, ground, reverse, electronic brake controller)

Took me a good 2 hours to figure it out and heat solder all the wires

I have a feel good story on my headlight low beam hid bulb replacements.

I bought a premium Xenon Depot XTR h11 5000K hid conversion kit from Dynamic Appearance to replace my current set of entry level low beam h11 6000K hids.

These entry level and lower cost 6000K hid were from a different company and brand and were only 6 months old, but I didn’t like the scattered bluish output that felt underwhelming (short throw distance). My bad for picking 6000K and low cost ones!

Anyhow, one of the new xenon depot hid h11 bulbs arrived dead. Oh no…I thought I was going to struggle to get customer support.

However, Dynamic Apperance responded to my email within an hour and provided instructions on how to submit a claim by cutting the wire on the bad hid and sending a photo of the cut wire and bulb serial number.

Next day I had a fedex tracking number for my replacement bulb. A few days later I had my low beam lights working. No extra cost and no hassle filing a claim for me with xenon depot.

Kudos to Dynamic Apperance for handling my situation quickly and professionally.

They sell Morimoto and GTR headlight bulbs and hid conversion kits

I need to try my new HIDs at night to see if I had an improvement on how far the light is thrown at night on dark offroad trails
