Nice work. Looks really good.

this looks great. I've been thinking of making my own this winter as well. What kind of welder did you use? How long did it take you? I've haven't welded heavy guage metal for something like this. I have access to a Miller 130 and maybe a 180, but want to make sure that what I weld is going to be welded properly. any advice from your build would be appreciated.

Nice Work!

Details on the hinge and latch Please.

the welder i use was a 135, at first i started out useing gas, but the gas ran out so i switched to a .30 non gas wire. i found that these welds looked alot better and that they sunk into the metal alot better, resulting in a stonger weld. my advice would have to be take your time its been about two weeks fo r the biuld of mine and im still not done yet now im on to painting it. then again i didnt work on it everyday. there is alot more to it then you would think with regards to mesurments. but if you have the time go for it. and to answer you question about welding heavy guage metal it wasnt hard just go slow and make nice big C's, it turnd out great for me. good luck

okay the hinge i got from iron pig offroad it pretty beefy good product, the latch is a 90 degree pull out clamp, i will post pics up later when on carrier. i had prblems with trying to figure out to mount the latch, but figured it out. on the swing away arm the handle part of the latch will mount where the little bracket sticks out (2) and the part of the little pice that the clam will hold on to will mount on the outside of the bracket(1) when latched the arm wont be avle to swing anywhere.
