:frown: This entire thread is sad.. i feel for both parties involved, I have been on both ends of situations like this and they both SUCK. Neither of you are bad people but things have a tendency to spiral out of control. my advise (not that anyone asked for it)would be to just forgive and forget and move on.... Life is hard enough to take without carrying around the extra baggage of anger and hate..
my .02 cents..

I just chalk this up to a bad experience. Obviously had I known it would have taken that long I would not have ordered the product.

In hindsight I feel Slee had doubts on getting the part sooner than later. The reason I felt this way is because I placed the order with the stipulation the part would be arriving within a few days, Slee mentioned, "...unless the machine shop is lying to me." 20-20 hindsight it makes sense but thought nothing of it at the time. I even recall saying to Christo, it sounds like you need to find a new machine shop, hahaha....

A month later Slee had my $, I had no part. I was just stuck waiting, it sucked. Movable, drivable, or not my order was not completed and I felt I had waited more than enough time and patient enough that something needed to happen other than wait another week.

Nuf said. It eventualy worked out. I'm sure I'll enjoy the end product. Just the whole situation blew....

I can see that you clearly have a faithful following in this industry, and I'm sure your parts are of reputable quality. But you need to work on your customer service, or you risk losing more business from people like my fiancee who don't appreciate being treated like petulant children.

Excuse me, but are we talking about a heart-lung machine here or, are we talking about a panhard rod? It figures that if your boy friend had to get a woman involved this would turn into a drama. :sheesh:

You are correct on one thing, Christo and his team at Slee Offroad have a faithful following here on 'Mud, on SOR before 'Mud, within TLCA, on many other on-line forums, and on 80sCool before you were born. It is unlikely your little hissy fit is gonna change that.

Petulant children.... I like that phrase. Hope you don't mind if I borrow it.

I hope you learned a valuable lesson-Don't tear your truck down until all the needed parts are in hand. Otherwise you set yourself up for just this problem. To go out of your way to bash a long time vendor known for exceptional customer service is just wrong. Then involving your fiancee:princess:-that's wrong too, no one disbelieved that you didn't get your part. It's also wrong to expect Slee to just give you a different and more expensive part. They offered to refund you $$-most would not have done that. Get serious. You may think that Slee Offroad is an industrial giant that can afford give away parts on a whim, but instead, it's a few guys working in a small shop making innovative and unique products that are not available anywhere else.

Disclaimer: I have no relationship with Slee Offroad. I do have several of their products on my 80 series. I just can't stand to see their reputation sullied by baseless accusations.

I've learned to expect a slightly nose up attitude from any and all LC parts vendors, especially those that aren't just retailers.....I'd say a month's wait and no EXTRA charges is a plus. Slee's solid reputation isn't going to change any time soon, but I do wish he and others weren't so damn proud of their parts...a grand for sliders or bumpers still blows my mind. But if you want a product with plenty experience and thought put into it and want it quick, you're not better off anywhere else.

Yeah, it's there.

This thread was started in hopes of recieving help/ input on the bent relay rod issue. I thank everyone for their help, and have reached the conclusion that previously bent tie rod + front axle locker engaged on street = seriously bent rod. Had some nice pics on a cheap/ strong fix for the rod but my computer won't upload now, and needs to get shot. I am done with this thread. Have fun with it...

Southead, I would still check everything over very well. I have never seen a rod bend like that by just the pressure from the power steering system. Even with lockers on. Either that rod was kinked a lot before, or something else went on. When rock crawling one can sometimes get in a situation where the truck does not want to turn at all, even with power steering maxed out and it still does not bend the rod.

Do you have a pic from before possibly?

I guess I'm in the minority since I don't immediately take Slee's side and see several ways this could have been handled better. Anyway, looking forward to hearing the real cause of what happened to the relay rod.

It's sad that these type of discussions have to happen, but when they do I believe this is the right place for them. Chat is not conducive to anything remotely serious. Yeah, it would be best if disagreements never came up, but better to hash them out if there's gonna be a problem behind the scenes.

After reading this whole thread all I was thinking was, "Where in the hell is ROMER!" I mean this type of crap belongs in chat, not tech....When dealing with a minor problem with a reputable vendor that has done so much for our 80's ( anyone that has been around 80 series cruisers for awhile knows what I am talking 'bout, exclud newbs.) one should take it privately rather than publicly...I'm out, just contributed to this crap....

I think you need a new relay rod.

I am sorry that it got to this. I did not drag this in here, and I mentioned very early that I don't want to discuss the issues on the forum or even in this thread. However I felt that I needed to respond to the customers post.

You are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Pretty much, Slee Im pretty sure your products and service speak for itself and having 100% satisifaction in service is impossible, you know you tried.
You should try and get 80 % positive feedback in my line of work......

Keep up the good work:beer:

Beno, nice rant:rolleyes:
