Are we still considering FJ's Land Cruisers?

Oops...wrong thread....

Looking forward to meeting you Blaine.

So with that in mind, we will have to see if my little FJ can keep up. :steer:

 That man use to be a philosopher....now he's a parts guy. I tell my parents there is a legitimate career path for english and philosophy majors.

I'm sure you'll do fine. But as anyone will tell you, don't follow my lines.

:)

He's right, you'll just end up bored. Follow David.

So what is the plan other than the meet time?

I understand it is an out and back ruffly 30miles each way (from trail head) so does that mean part way to the end on Friday, get there Saturday, and then out on on Sunday?

I'm guessing I don't need to bring extra gas cans (Barely needed 1 on Kokopelli during CM)

Are we exploring on Saturday or kicking back or taking hikes, or thinking about how nice it would be to have a pneumatic blender for margaritas out of the back of someone's 80 (by the way congrats on the job Ash!) etc...

See above. We will be meeting Friday, camping at Comb Ridge Friday night and starting trail Saturday, out Monday AM.

One extra can is not a bad idea; I will be bringing one extra.

Your video and camera skills will be worth it on this trip. :)

This is a wheeling trip.

Who all is leaving Friday am? We're leaving from 550 and 528 about 9am.

I still have some work to do on my locker though. I hooked it up with the "optional" 5 ohm 40 watt resistor (actually 50 watts, 5 one ohm 10 watt resistors in series) and while it locks up fine, it doesn't unlock completely. It never loses the ground when it moves back. I'm thinking of trying it without the resistors, and seeing if it will cram back far enough to lose the ground. I used the alternate wiring diagram here:

Also my frigging rear bumper is now scheduled to arrive next Thursday, the day before we leave...

I am leaving at the same time.

Rusty and I plan to attend if dogs are welcome. Plans could change based on work issues

I hope I get to go....the place I ordered the struts from is not responding to any emails, phone calls, or text messages and the parts are over due:rolleyes:

Same problem as my bumper... At least he is answering emails though. I'm off Thursday to get ready but can head over there if you need a hand - my bumper may even be in by then... On the good news side of things, the elocker is in and wired up and works!

I found the problem with the fuel pump... I bought a new fuel pump at NAPA today. gave the part # on the old box and the guy says..."cheap O'Reily knock off of the frame rail fuel pump". I then remember why I had a new spare in Ouray. both were the price of the regular one I use... It died because of the crappy knock off version it was! I now have a good $105 pump. :grinpimp:

Well I've got metal on metal for my front 2 struts...but coming up with plan B.

Was it the resistor that kept your locker from working? Glad you got it going!!!

If you bring 2 FJ40 4-link kits for me I'll be your personal videographer/photgrapher for the weekend;)

There's a spring place downtown, that I went to and surprisingly had bushings I needed. I can't remember the name though... I would think the odds are that somebody here has a set they just never put in...

And yes, I think with the resistance it just didn't have the oomph to get through the cobwebs. After I unlocked the resistors got hot fast. It calls for a 10 amp fuse, which I'm thinking is what it takes to avoid damage to the contacts, but I put a 3 amp fuse in there just to be sure in case it doesn't quite unlock and break the circuit, and it's shifted in and out about 10 times now okay...

disco'ed...er, being redesigned. They were 1990's engineering.

The MAN!!!

So, is that 15% discount good for a twin turbo 75???

I need something to pull a 5th wheel when we retire and sell the house...

Soooooo? personal videographer and a rain check?

What if I could guarantee a 2nd videographer on a MTB? :flipoff2:

I found the problem with the fuel pump ... O'Reily knock off

Shades of yesteryear... Anybody with a Checker/O'Reilly Fuel Pump, Starter, Alternator (I've been burned by all three) etc. might consider bringing a spare. Starter and Alternator we can fix by push starting or changing out batteries, but unless you want to duct tape a gas can to your hood... (I'm just sayin')

I *do* need to find a list of most probable parts for 3rd gen/Tacoma trail spares though. I have what I think are most, but there might be a surprise out there!

I also need to find what's good for inner CV joint grease - dealer said it only comes with the inner and outer boot kit, and moly is a no-no for the inner. Course, I haven't talked to the Shaman about that yet. I hear Amsoil 2000 grease is good (lithium based) but I need some confirmation on that...

I've just been carrying an extra half shaft, in the 9 years of wheeling the 4Runner i've only broke an outer cv on the front. ****...need to find wood to knock on quick!!!! :bang:

I've got an extra rear drvie shaft but have never carried it. I have some extra u-joints that I carry but that's it. 3rd gen is pretty robust at least up to 33's and smart wheel'n. My one brake was a noob mistake...just wan't thinking with high RPMs and steering locked to the driver side

Might be different with a front locker
