no winch, it was the superintendent's truck. I get tempted with winches but keep putting it off, how often am I going to use it compared to how much it costs. My bushblock is plenty muddy and hilly, I have always got out with momentum, little bit exciting every time. Only once I lost total grip with trailer and harrow in tow in 1st, just rolled back down the hill, unhitched harrow and I got out in second.
My old bj40 had a pto winch, loved that as it was factory. Heavy bugger tho, steel cable and big hd cogs. Some folks even attached slashers to the pto and rolled down the grassy hills whilst slashing.
I even towed my mate's little 2tonne truck with the troopy out of the muddy hill. Landcruisers are ace.

So much stuff to buy and I wonder how often it gets used. Like those shiny plastic fluoro mud/sand grabbers on lots of shiny 4wd's roof racks. Could just cut up some plastic milk crates and zip lock them together for a lot cheaper. I hate roof racks, they encourage rust, I only put them on when I really need them like to carry long roof iron.

The vht flameproof stuff is meant to be good for piston heads too..which is quite a claim.
I love these guys oven!
I build kilns , so reckon it is quite achievable, got all sorts of pyrometers and stuff, carbon starts to burn at cherry red colour, around 630c.

All the bent 7* series chassis' I have ever seen were from frontal collisions. You wont bend them any other way, other parts will fail before the chassis .

I get what you mean, knowing my luck the one time I need a winch I won't have one. That milk crate idea is brilliant, I will bury that in mind.

My old bullbar has a cut out already for what looks like a high mount winch. Apparently they were an optional extra back in the day.
That 40 sounds unreal, haven't seen one in the wild for a long time.
I was pretty impressed by the capabilities of a standard 75 series, took it out with a friend's modified triton when I first got it, I was able to tackle more than I thought I could.

That video is unbelievable, never seen anything like that before. I wonder how long that repair would last.

A kiln at low temp would be ideal for exhaust ceramic curing, I doubt I got mine hot enough. Best of luck with it,

interesting observation and good to know. I am living with my bend for now on the orange one, maybe when lockdown ends I shall take it to the rack stretchers with all the measuring devices.

The wreck I am working on, pvo knob definitely broke the front member from front collision. It looks like he tried yanking pretty hard at the back too, even though he managed to bend it locally, the rear of the frame looks fairly straight. Mind you, this scum covered the bends and cracks with concealment. Another troopy I nearly bought from a scum used car dealer covered the rear cross member with aluminium tread plate and pop rivets, hiding a crack right through, with a dodgy rwc! I waited outside his yard and told every potential customer he sold cars with dodgy rwc's, they gave my money back eventually. I was angry. How do scum live with themselves.?

That sounds real dodgey, and has the potential to become very dangerous.
Before getting the 75 I looked at several KUN26R Hiluxes, One of then at an actual dealership, looked good on paper with only 100,000 on the clock.

When I went to inspect the car I was really disappointed, the horrid overspray, mismatched paint and panel gaps were unbelievable for what they were asking.
Looking underneath it, it appeared to have been in at least 1 accident (2 I thought, factory side steps missing and mounts broken off, tub poorly resprayed). I would take an honest bad condition car over something poorly repaired.
