my engine 12 HT not shutting down at idle but does if I rev it up a bit. I just did complete body swap from my rusted out HJ61 and replaced it's shell with a FJ60. It has taken approx18 months to complete. I think I may have incorrectly mixed some vac lines up or water got in to the servo. My manual does not show pics of the correct placement for all the lines does anybody have 1 as I more afraid what other items may not work for my test drive soon. Is it common that if the servo is faulty that it moves half way but not enough to shut motor down without revving it up.

Your VSV is vacum operated it is the unit the tells the sevo to shut down.
There is a post both here and in the diesel section from last week that shows the VSV.
Its been years since I have studied the system from beginning to end of the cycle so I am a little foogy usually when the system fails to shut down it is a blockage in the VSV which can be blown out to clear it from carbon deposit.

You can isolate the problem by running vacuum directly from the alternator to the shut down valve. If it shuts down, then you know there's a leak somewhere, or your vsv is clogged.

Pm me your email and i can send you the fsm pages you need

Have to thank BOTH you guys for your help YOU ROCK. Special thanks to TORFAB for the extra diagrams and support, wish i had you close to my local

Thanks Tim I did read and look at that 1 to recently and agreed that the fellas problem is likely to be the single vsv which I have just hrs trimming my vac lines down for better fits and with diagrams supplied by Torfab I have blown air through it while testing electrically that air went in the correct directions as per diagrams and found no fault on my vsv but have not done the vac line straight to alt to test the servo as my first test was to hold actuator open with finger over pipe inlet and it held when releasing the lever which I assumed it to be ok. I moved on to testing the double 4wd 2wd vsv and found some issue that's only allowing a small amount of air to pass where it should go but the majority is passing through the wrong direction which according to the fact workshop manual I need to replace but now I am really worried because last week I happened to price this part accidentally being $460-AUS and not avail discontinued stock non in australia. In the next few days when Electricians are working again I will have it retested to confirm my belief but will update soon as I know more.
