Hi all, i recently bought myself a near perfect HJ61. For some reason now when i turn it off the turbo timer keeps in going as usual then once the minute or 2 passes all my dash accessories turn off but the engine keeps running.

Now I've done abit of research and i know these dont have an EDIC apparently and that it turns off via a butterfly which is controlled by a vacuum operated actuator which i have located and when i pull the linkage attached to the actuator the engine shuts down.

I've checked for vacuum leaks.. nothing.

So i ask, does the diaphragm in the actuator tend to fall apart?? the car does have 420,000 on the clock.

can you buy these units new?

is this even my problem?

any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Ivan.

Its your VSV you should be able to blow it clean the black round thingy I had the same issue many years ago and blasted it with air and it has worked fine since then.
I was told carbon gets into them and clogs them up.

I second that, had the same issue with mine...blew it out with compressed air and good to go.

Agreed, I have NEVER heard of the membrane breaking up in the shut-off actuator...
