HJ60 tach not working

My buddys HJ60 Tach does not work at all, also his fuel gauge is screwy so im thinking a short somewhere. Is there a way to test if the tach is getting a signal with a volt meter? If so please let me know. Thanks

the fuel guages are netorious for acting up and the tachs are ntorious for quiting. usually the tach is dead because of the guage.

my fuel guage skyrockets every once in a while but usually settles down in a few minutes.... don't have a tach yet. oil pressure guage is useless. temp guage is disconnected.
Come to think of it, most of the guages in my console are useless.

yep, usually when the temp guage pegs then you will notice the fuel gauge also does...
