Had only about and hour's window of time this evening, and did a bit more welding on the upper cab section lower lip.

First a few pictures comparing the fabricated corner section wit the original.

last two - the camera battery ran out of juice, so I couldn't take picture sof the other small piece of repair work I completed tonight.

I'm pretty sure I will have this upper cab repair completed in another two sessions. After that, only a few minor welding tasks, like the pto mounting brackets and the a/c switch and I am done with the welder :bounce:, which means I am sooo close to being done with the grinder :bounce2::bounce2:

Hey Dan,

I've been getting a lot of parts from David Porter at 4wdparts.com.au. I came across them when I bought some aftermarket parts, and then found that they were happy to locate oem stuff as well. They're honest and give excellent service, and communicate well.

this is on their homepage, what gives?

Please Note: 4WD Parts does not supply outside of Australia so we regret that unfortunately we will not be able to process orders or enquiries from outside Australia.

I e-mailed David today and asked him if it was okay for me to promote his business on the forum, to members who come from all over the world, and his reply:

"thankyou for asking about referring us , yes , please spread the word !"

I guess that the message on their website isn't worth paying too much heed towards, which is a good thing.

I realized in a flash that the FJ40 cab section I had laying around had some sheet metal framing around the door that was very similar to the section I had just exposed by chopping the cap off. So I went and cut off sections off the 40 door frames, and then trimmed the end cuts until the pieces stood straight and even with one another.
