HJ47 for difficult tracks around the world

I am not sure if that is good for very dusty conditions. During our stay in Central Asia we met few people with those filters. They are good in normal driving, but when is very dusty, some of them had to be cleaned twice a day and if you have just one filter=nightmare.
I borrowed dust separator for our snorkel and had to empty it every few hours and main air filter was still very dirty every day, so that is why I am looking for "dry filter" solution.

I have another question.
I want to buy stronger alternator/80A/ new starter motor and waterpump. Is ebay a good place to buy?

Thats where i get parts from, although i don't know if it is good for starter motor and alternator, its common to buy and trade in an overhauled one. I wouldn't trust buying a second hand one online from a private seller.

I bought a front set of Brembo discs and bosch pads online for $110 the lot, although they are made in Malaysia and Indonesia they have the big names on them, probably better than a generic named one at that price. Then again this is for a local daily driver not for travelling around continents.

Why do you need a stronger alternator? You wouldnt have much to run on that old thing even with extra's.

Ebay is ok, there are two or three large Australian 4x4 companies selling on Australian eBay, I have bought off them on numerous occasions.

I will run fridge and power inverter from camping battery, so I was thinking, that stronger alternator would be a good idea.

As you can see from photos, I do not have any protection from for the rear of car.
I would like to fit swing away spare tyre carrier, some protective bars. Can you point me right direction where to look for inspiration.
I also want to attach roof rack to the frame. Any photos of the best option. I hope you can understand my poor english, sorry for that.

After 27months and 103333km we have just finished our trip from Europe to AUS and NZ.
Our next trip is with HJ47 and we will drive from AUS back home to Czech via Russia and Mongolia. This trip will start in September 2015 and we will spend two years on the road.

Now is time to do search for few modifications which we want to do to our Toyota. This forum is brilliant.

@Tasi, if you are still looking for a rear bar/tyre carrier, you should ask Kaymar in Melbourne. Kaymar Rear Bars, Spare Wheel Carriers, Jerrycan Holders & Accessories Landcruiser 40
I have no idea how expensive they are though.

I've been looking around for tyres for my BJ42 and BFGs are really expensive, and you might have trouble sourcing replacements if you are running 15in wheels. As others have mentioned 750R16 (or the near equivalent 235/85R16) will probably save you hassle as it's a pretty standard size. If you want wider, 265/75R16 is nearly the same diameter.

Also, your troopy has the LX model seats (brown and white stripes). They are quite rare and worth a lot of $$$, so look after them well!

We have PTO winch and as you say, long distance traveling is different than few days trip, so I do not thing I will buy lockers.

We had BFG KM2 on Delica for 60000km and they were good. I bought Kumho before Gibb River Road and that was a bad buy, as they started to chip. I phoned Kumho and they offered 4 higher load rating tires and I paied only for 2 as they sold me wrong ones first time. I would love to buy BFG, but they are so expensive here in OZ and I could not afford them at that time.
I will put 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2 to Toyota. I just love them and they are most popular brand in Europe as well with people who travel/mainly BFG AT/. I will need good tyres for Russia, so BFG all the way for us.

Lockers may save you in the desert or the beach. More often than not you won't have a tree to winch onto. I've been stuck at the beach in my 70 series before with the tide coming in. I was able to dig and throw wood under the tires and back down onto the hard sand and made a running go at her to get over the mound .. but 20 more Minutes I would of been SOL.

I used split rims in Africa and regretted every minute of it, punctures galore! I would go steels with a puncture repair kit, less weight as well. You don't need lockers in the desert, just air your tyres down (for which a good air compressor is a godsend) but they could be useful somewhere like Russia in the mud. A winch can be used in sand if you really have to by burying the spare wheel, or use a sand anchor, but they're heavy. Sandtracks or equivalent are also very handy.
