I haven't had any luck finding an answer to this question. Will a bed from a 1985 or later landcruiser pickup fit an earlier FJ 45? If not what are the differences? If not, what mods would be required? They look similar including the headache rack.......

Ok, I'll bite. I personally haven't done it but have seen it down here enough for it not to be impossible.

Tornadoalleycruiser is doing this now. Check out his build in this forum. It is going to be great when he's done

Yes, a 79 series bed will fit, however, you have to make new mounts.

Great seller! You cannot go wrong if you buy a bed from them. I think last I talked to them they had 60 beds sitting there? I have a rear bumper on it's way right now from them.

and one thing to note on that picture of the Fj45 with the FZJ79 bed. it has a significant body lift on it. I would imagine approx 1-2 inches. To get the FZJ79 bed to line up as they are in the picture and to fit a rear aux tank some minor modifications are needed. I"m still not exactly there yet but hope to have bed modified and mounted by the end of January.

I'm not even sure that the frame in that picture is off a FJ45. No springs, don't see the plating the FJ45 frame has at the back of the cab on the frame. It also appears the arch in the frame above the rear axle is at the level of the floor in the bed. Doesn't look like it could rest any lower on the frame than it does now. It's Proffitts selling later pickup bodies?

The truck at the top is a 45 cab + 70 bed on an 80 frame. A true hybrid project.

Now, looking at the headache rack, I wonder if the 70 version would fit on a 45 bed. :hhmm:

Yeah it's not an FJ45 with a 75 bed as requested but it's all I could find. I see them all the time down here, so it can be done. Just custom mounts: 45 on one end, 75 on the other.

I think $1600? Call her name is Penny. Great to work with. They met us across the boarder on the canada side.
