Hj 60 project, photos of the whole thing, flares any1 ;)

I just wanted to show you some pics of my project, the status to day is that I'm waiting for fenderflares. They will cost me around 1500 bucks. But when this is written I've spent around 6000 bucks on this project. I've done most of the work by my self but some parts had to made at a workshop. It has an air suspension with kony shocks. 4 link in front and rear. Approx 300 ltr fuel tank. It runs on 44" trxus but the future is to buy 46" MT and 18" or 19" wide rims. The axles are all American ;). I'm also thinking about putting some v8 into the hood but I have no idea what I should put into it, I want plenty of torque but also plenty of horsepower :D any suggestion?
Greetings from Iceland

Nice rig, Which US axles? and what gearing are you using? that's a lot of tire to turn, throw in a few meters of fresh snow...and man you do need some horse power and torque to roll that baby..

I'm using dana 44 rear and 12 bolt rear, I'm planing to put dana 60 or 14 bolt in rear sometime in the future. Do you know if I can get 6 lug on them? I'm using 5.38 gears. The motor has turbo on it, I have a new turbo that I will install and I'm planning to put propane in it to add some extra power ;)

That's amazing that there is enough torque and horsepower already. Huge tires and minimal lift are pretty common in Iceland, aren't they?

We try to stay as low as we can go, because then the cars handle much better on road and off road ;)

Blessaður, alltaf gamana að sjá fleirri íslendinga hérna :)
er með þráð hérna einhverstaðar https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=134457

dont need so much articulation when driving in snow fields or highway, just flotation and traction.

Flotation is the name of the game over here, articulation isn´t that big of a deal though it does help ofcourse

anywho good luck with the build

Did you say you are using a dana 44?

yup, dana 44, bought it from sum guy that had it in a hilux, he had newly changed every parts in it so it´s like new.

Jam, maður verður nú að vera með smá sýndarmensku hérna hehe :P Er að fá kantana bráðum á hann svo hann gæti farið að sjást bráðum á götum borgarinnar. En hvernig gengur með þinn?

Hey Nicko,

Pictures are great. How do you do the rear quarter panel? I'm just trying to figure out what is involved to stretch the rear.

I would keep the original fender hole and ( rear ) make it big to rear end :D

It rocks anycase .. :D

Excellent pics Talos. Do you know how they fill in the rear well? Oh, maybe the use the opposite sides cut to flip and fill in? I wonder if there is enough metal to do that. Maybe you can cut it so that it is kind of symetric. Anyways.

Cheers.

I haven´t extended the weels on my 61 this far back, only went 15+cm but my FJ-55 had it´s wheels streched way back.
you can probably see from the pics how this was done, the well was just cut in half and extended.

hope this helps :)

Regarding the flares, have you tried to contact the guy on the 46" 4runner? maybe he has molds or knows someone who has.

I´m talking about this 4Runner btw

sorry for the Hijack :P

The flares are in the molds now talos. The flares that I buy are for dodge ram. The man who's making them for me will ad an extra 18cm to them for me. If I had knew about this 4runner I would have talked to him but it's to late now :frown:

And about the panels, I used the upper half from the left on the right and opposite. And I used 1.5 or 2.0mm thick plate to fill in the lover half, I think you could cut out a whole panel to fill it out but I wasn't thinking of doing it like this when I cut the panel out. And everything welded with patients so the the body wouldn't be like a roof :D. I also used a ton of filling paste to get it aligned like it supposed to be. To the inner fender I bent a plate and welded it in. I can take photos of it if you want to.

here are some of the panels when I painted them
