Alright, so the OP sold the truck, how do I know? Because I bought it! Bought it a year and about 3 months ago. Done heaps of work to it, rebuilt injectors, IP diaphragm and so many more things. U can see my thread in my signature. Engine is out of the truck, I am rebuilding it. It was low on compression, hence the lack of power in the mountains of NM, as the OP had originally posted. Since the engine is out, I was considering installing a turbo but I see that the balance among mud users is about 50/50 in favor of and not in favor. Maybe I should start a poll.

If you are rebuilding the engine, put Alfin pistons in and Turbo that thing. I would only caution someone with an old worn out engine not to install a turbo. If you have a nice fresh(ened) one, unless you really like being afraid of highway on-ramps, put on a turbo. It won't make the truck fast, but it'll make it drivable...

Actually I really do not have any gripe with the truck as it is. I don't mind the freeways at all. She's just slow to get going but goes there after. I assume she'll have even more power once fully rebuilt. Turbo-ing is still on the table though.
