wow glad you are ok; I really love those 110 defenders but their reliability is what really keeps me with toyota. thanks for the posting even if they are not toyota

Have you tried the same stunt with the 200? :)

No! I'm trying to avoid that actually. Haha the bedouin60 got a close call once when he stalled on the side of a dune and slid down sideways for a second.

Recently posted on another thread on some vibrations and issues with my brakes. Now this is what you do to test if everything is still working.

Just See the pictures of the rolled Car

What happens? Did you got stuck at the Top of the Dune, in a bad angle?

The visible track don't look that bad...

Glad that you survive without more blessures!

Took a big risk by climbing it at an angle lost momentum at the top and sand was very soft so as it slowed down the right side tires sunk in and tipped it over. With the 90 it was easier to power out and spin it round when it slows down so you'll be pointing upwards or downwards with the 110 it actually dug itself which sent it over within the same second. The hill was steeper than it looks. Took the police over 5 hours to straighten it out and had two tires pop off the rim which we had to reinflate before driving it out.

Got a 7pin trailer connector installed yesterday. And since Toyota here refuse to do it I went down to the Subaru dealers and had them fit it :p drooled over some STI's while i was there.

does anyone know what this connector behind the taillight is for?

Rear fog light connection?

Well today had a very weird turn of events.

Started out by swapping my 17x7 steelies to 17x8 as I've had enough of pop outs and losing balancing weight each time i drive through the desert.

drove a couple of kms down the road and lost a few :censor: balancing weights as the :censor: at the tire shop hadn't hammered them down properly will go down tomorrow to have that fixed.

not my boat

not my caddy

Well the interesting part begins when you decide to act like an ass.

Firstly judging by this post:
Have you tried the same stunt with the 200? :)
I think you have a little chuckle reading up on my misfortunes, so this ones for you.

I was having a quick bash across the desert before heading out to dinner and i was driving like an ass, got myself stuck in some very soft sand like an ass, inched my way forward (the only way it would go) unfortunately the only thing in front of me was a small ditch running a circle around a tree. So of course fell in that like an ass, then I pulled out the winch and roped a tree approx 25 metres away. So I half uprooted this tree like an ass and wrapped the tow rope underneath the roots and gave it another shot. Started moving forward until the cruiser slid down and rested the passenger side against some nice branches :hhmm: what to do??? BE AN ASS and WINCH ON!!!

I might say

But I sure as hell HATE trees as well.

If that wasn't enough fun I had a synthetic rope installed instead of the steel cable a few days ago and when I was spooling the winch to wind the rope up neatly I realised the numpty who installed the cable did not screw in the cable properly onto the winch drum and that caused the cable to come off the drum even with well over 8 rolls of cable on the drum.

If all that wasn't enough fun it was 42'c (107'F) outside. Which quickly heats up the water surrounding your brain and causes you to...... be an even bigger ass and drive off across 2km of desert and then 4km of highway before realising the winch remote was still hanging off the bumper :doh::doh::bang:

Just don't foil it in flat black, or you will really be letting the SHJ arab out ;)

Honestly here in RAK I have been having the same bad luck. I got one of the TLC's stuck in our test track in a spot I have driven over 1000 times. I couldnt be bothered getting out of the TLC and into the sand during the mid day so I radioed in for an extraction from our MRAP recovery truck.

I think we have 2 more days before Ramadan starts and everything will be switched to night time driving - which really sucks - I have a sleep/driving disorder that doesnt allow me to drive at night :frown:

:hhmm: if I get it flat black I'll need the 900 sand tyres and a 20ft cb radio antenna and since I need to be in AD early tomorrow I'll do the tire saving technique and do the trip on 2 wheels.

I'll be getting a police report and have it resprayed at Toyota they qouted 700AED per door so approx 2,800 for the whole right side. They agreed with me and said to give it a good polishing first before getting again so some minor scratching might go and they can have a good look in detail and give a more accurate quote.

I ordered a set of 900's for my jeep - just haven't had the time to install them. I have a set of sand tires on my Isuzu and damn is it a death trap on U-turns. But I have to admit deep down I want a farmers tlc79 from down there in UAQ - just can't find one to sell it to me (some sweet 40 series out there also)

If your TLC was white or pearl white I would welcome you to paint it in my paint booth. But black (and the black with metal flake) is a pain in the ass - and my guys never seem to get 100% right without a FULL repaint.

hey did you ever consider getting a setof those maxtraxx things? I have seen videos of them working great in sand and stuff. any experience with them??

Thanks for the offer, I might be able to get access to a paint booth down here in SHJ, I wanted to see the proper quote from toyota and see with the paint guys I know if they've got time for it. if they are I'll do it with them and get drivers door done as well, dogs jumped up at the window excited to see me, and have a nice scratch on the hood from a horse bite.

I've used the bushranger x-trax an haven't had much luck with them. They mostly just get pulled back behind the wheel and get buried. I got out with them once or twice on solo runs but they need a hell lot of digging and I think 4 might be better as I only have 2.

These are the same as the maxtraxx TRED but I have yet to try them. I think these solid ones might help a bit more in the desert than the x-trax.

Dammit :bang::bang::bang:

I saw a 200 GX on the road and now I want barn doors.

Probably give Kenn a visit down in RAK and steal a pair of doors off one of their cruisers, :hillbilly: don't think they'll notice. Anyone here have close up pictures of the hinge locations? I know it's by the taillights and the lower actually go through the bumper.

Our LHD version is actually a TLC 200 G DLX (G9 Deluxe - either 4.0 petrol manual or 4.5 diesel manual) I'm trying to order another one this month and convert to TLC 200 Ambulance for Iraq. If I get it in I can look more into your idea of converting your GXR to barn door.

Just as I thought the upper lip is not there on my cruiser and it looks like the area the doors are bolted and the door stay are connected are different as well.

I'll need to see a GX/G9 up close and see if the mounting points can be changed on the door to fit on the motor and what extent of modding / fabricating / welding needs to be done to get them to fit

Stopped by an audio shop today and when I stepped out after 10 mins the inside of the cruiser was stripped out

Got a set of 4 speakers + amp

all wired up with the monster cables

Amp placed under drivers seat

Ok on this stereo install...I have some questions....

Did you install an aftermarket deck? I didn't think the original deck could work with an aftermarket amp. Did you remove the stock amp? etc

Where did you mount the subs? Got some pics?

thx.....
