Two things, one to add some tech and the other for some dreaming.

1. What is the performance and reliability of the 3.0 D4D commonrail diesel, and the chances is will be sent to North America?

2. On my way home from the the job, I saw this on the interstate!

Ive never heard them called a Vigo before, they would be an SR or SR5 here. The 1KD FTV is a popular engine in australia although some say its showing its age compared to the opposition.
The performance levels vary a bit depending on the intended market,WIKI mentions 170HP at 3400rpm and 260lb/ft at 1800-3400 rpm.
Im not sure which country thats for but the aussie models are fairly close to that.
Im guessing the ones you saw are from South America and the local dealers would have the HP and torque figures on their respective sites

And you didn't call me? You know I would have chased the truck down to find out what the deal was. ;)

Finally a new picked that I'd consider buying, and I can't.

Very good eye and I'm glad you got pics!

The 3L D4D is an amazing engine. Loads of power and extremely fuel efficient. I drove one in europe last summer and the thing gets over 30mpg and feels like a rocketship. These trucks are absolutely fantastic.
No way it will come to the US, as the average US joe wants a megapickup with 350hp V8s to compensate for his small penis, and that's what ford and chevy specialize in.
cheers,
j
