hey guys.
Finally finished a non frame off rebuild -body and engine.
My question is that i seem to have a gas issue when going up steep hills!
I bought a brand new weber carb and replaced all fuel filters.
Does anyone have any suggestions what could be?

someone mentioned that it might be a crack or air hole in the petrol inlet pipe
Any help appreciated.

thx

What type vehicle, engine, year...?

The Weber is not designed for steep hills. The best solution is to convert it back to the original carb, which is very good at steep hills.

Some Weber experts, maybe Weber Sarge, could give you some tips to make it better, but...

"someone mentioned that it might be a crack or air hole in the petrol inlet pipe" No

what weber do you have?

The problem is that fuel comes out the vent hole from the bowl and floods out the air correction jets

There is a gasket a guy sells that doesn't have this vent hole open

The air vent can be blocked off and a vent tube can be added within the aircleaner area... i think sarge had a thread about doing this here? or another site?

There is another way i have seen... link>>> http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104720

I fill in the vent area to the bowl much like the common fix on many sites - with the exception of adding a vented , u-shaped tube to extend the breather up much higher than the air horn limit . There are also some tricks to do with the float and it's travel as that helps a lot . One of the best things is to either add a return line to the carb or use the early 80's Jeep CJ fuel filter with built in bypass .

That's what I had to do with the Rochester in my old Jeepster, extend the float bowl breather tube.

Hi guys. Thanks for help and suggestions. It is or was a bj42 and i converted to a 2f , not sure year but engine around 78/80. The body is 82. The weber is 32/36 i believe. I stripped the fuel pump and tried but seems to be same! It doesnt happen all time and starts back straight away.
Not sure gradient of hills but quite steep. Could it be the fuel tank wasnt cleaned out properly. But the fliters shld eliminate that. Confused.

I bought the CLEGG engine rebuild kit. Great service and excellent full rebuild kit. Highly recommend anyone if rebuilding.
