Is the event indeed Friday through Tuesday? Big raffle and dinner on Monday night?

Thanks for all you guys do to organize and put this on. Our two trips to HiH have been true family highlights! Will need to rearrange schedule to try to make this happen again this year.

That is correct. We can setup on Thursday the 12th, trails will begin on Friday.

This is not the official HIH8 thread and we will have all the details about raffle night and pot luck night when that thread is created. We're still working on some of that. Pot luck and raffle will not be on Monday. Most likely....opening ceremony at Wyman on Thursday night, pot luck and beers around the world on Friday and raffle/dinner on Saturday.

Cannyonlands will be scorching hot in July. Silverton will be perfect weather.

I'm pushing my Canyonlands/Arches/Capitol Reef/Bryce trip to September for that reason. Can't get out there before June and figure that then is WAAAAAAY too hot. My BIG target this year is my first HIH. Missed it last year, but did my own solo HIH the first week of September '17.

This rookie is totally looking forward ogling some 100 series porn, meeting some of you folks, hitting a few trails, and making that long, long drive up from Denver :steer:

Looking forward to getting my truck out of florida for the first time.

damn.... I will see what I can do to attend this year. Unfortunately we have other plans that may not allow me to take off additional time to attend. We love supporting, volunteering and attending this event! fingers crossed. @bluecruiser @paflytyer

Unacceptable. Want me to put a call in to Zuckerberg? I'll straighten some stuff out over there.

i've been wanting to do this for 3 years now. I think this may be the year i do it. can't wait!

What mods are required?

I’m hoping to do the whole thing in a stock lx470 with AHC. Only mod is 275/70/18 BFG KO2s

If its Silverton again this year- None- go stock of you like- your KO2s will be perfect. Thats the beauty of this event. You can choose trails to suit your individual capabilities, and roll with a group thats got your back should you need help.

You may want to remove running boards though. A portable compressor would be useful, and carry a small list of job specific tools.

Just be sure you truck is mechanically sound, good brakes and up to date on your maintanences.

Awesome.

All maintenance is solid and definitely bringing stuff to air down/up. Any recommendations on a CB or HAM?

I am in and looking forward to attending this year.

Totally agree. Have run the HIH trails the last two years with my totally stock ‘05 LC with the same tires. No problems.

However, don’t be totally in love with your front or rear front bumper covers. Those may take a hit here and there. Also helps to have a receiver hitch to protect the spare tire and keep from ripping off the rear bumper cover. Acts as a skid plate.

I removed the stock running boards but had no hits on the rocker panels.

Just keep in mind that you are going offroad and s*** happens. Enjoy the scenery and the experience. The truck can be fixed.
