I've tried a dozen times to get my 2010 Lexus GX460's homelink buttons to program to our garage door. My 2019 RAM 2500 programmed up instantly without trouble.

What am I missing? I've followed the all of the video and written instructions including clearing the memory after each attempt. It seems to be broken at the last step of pushing the button ~2 seconds about 3 times after pressing the learning button on the garage door opener. I'm getting super frustrated. So, what's the problem?

You may need a compatibility bridge for openers made after 2010 or 2011

Oh goodness that's a bit much. So there is no way to get it working without this? I was hoping it was something I was doing...

What model year and brand garage opener are you using? Unfortunately, if it is newer one you may need to use a bridge.

House was built in 2020 so yea, pretty new. Dumb question, is that bridge being installed in the garage or GX?

Nevernind, I'll just use the existing handheld remote.

In the garage. It's pretty easy to setup. I just have mine plugged into the ceiling where the opener plugs in.

Looks like a pretty cheap and easy option with the bridge.

My 25 year old Craftsman screw-drive is readily compatible with the 460 :)

Knock on wood... but it still keeps working after all this time... over the years even added remote control capability via my phone and also an old Garage Butler

The obligatory camera in garage for verification as well.

I've went down this path. The bridge works half the time, I ended up using my garage openers phone app.

Can't you just get a 2010 garage opener that'll mate with your car?? 😝

I haven't had issues with it yet...

Mine wouldnt program either. But i found a video on youtube that said instead of pressing the button several times after hitting the learn button in the garage to just hold the home link button. took about 8 seconds and now it works

What year GX and how old is the garage door opener?

I also went down this path. I actually got it working decently but ... with the bridge plugged in my garage door opens on it's own randomly every couple of days. No pattern to it ... 3am in the morning or middle of the day. Obviously I can't have it just randomly open and leave my house wide open when I am not home, so it's disconnected and on the heaping pile of unused electronics in the garage.
