I'm usually over at the 60/62 forum but I just put a replacement steering pump in my FJ60. Its a mini truck pump that came with the hose barb fitting mounted in the top port (Cardone rebuilt) When I attached the high pressure hose to the pump, I noticed that there is no tapered seat in the hole, just a flat steel surface. Is there supposed to be a brass washer in there? The thing seams to seal, but the nut is bottomed out and smashing a hose flare into a flat surface just isn't right! The old pump had a brass seat on the hole but it doesn't come out and can't be swapped onto the new pump. TIA, Bruce

Wow, this place is slow compared to the Cruiser forums. I answered my own question - yes there is supposed to be a brass seat for the hose. Specter has it, local Toyota dealer didn't.
