So I picked up a set of those $100 HIDs from Checkers and finally got around to putting them on. It was a pain to come up with a way to fit these on my ARB along with the Lightforce 240s. The best thing I could come up with was to use a piece of square tubing (Grey), drill new holes in the existing mounting tabs (red), then drill new mounting holes in the square tube for the lights (blue). Now that I know everything fits I have to take it all back off to paint the square tube, but for now some pics:

So...you needed more light than the 240's throw eh? I've got the 170's and generally they do fine. However there were a few times recently that I would have liked the LF HID's (or I should say I think I would have liked the LF HID's...since I haven't actually driven behind them ;)).

Fixed because I was wrong, see below.

I probably didn't need them...but at that price it was hard to pass up.

Hi Cary,

My lightforce are not HID, the other ones are. The ballasts are built into the back of the housing:

I'm absolutely shocked. I can't comment on the beam quality from the pictures presented, but that will get you a lot of light output for the money.

Looks awesome! It is time for me to pony up and install dual batteries, so I can attempt to keep up with you fellas. I am really regretting not going for the ARB Combo bumper...what was I thinking?

Hey there's someone named "Beowulf" from the second link above.:hillbilly:

Anyway, WOW, I was not aware of these lights and as many have said (in the linked-threads), you don't have much to lose at that/those price(s).

Maybe it's time to chuck some of mine and get on the bandwagon with these.

Chris,

If you don't mind, I'd love to see the in-cab pics of the HID's against the 240's.

Pretty awesome!
And I love what you've done with the bumper/lightbar to accommodate all four lights!

There can never be enough light!:hillbilly:

Thanks for posting!

I think you need more lights. :flipoff2:

Looks great!

I've got some old 520s sitting in the basement. Maybe I outta do this.

Yeah.. you messed that one up!!!

BTW, you want to head to the swamp this weekend? What about that guy from Naples?

I am traveling to NJ until Friday, but I can do either Sat or Sunday AM. PM me if interested (I won't get notice from this post).

I will work on that. The beauty of these is at only 35W, you can use the trucks existing fog light wiring and factory switch. In addition to removing the bar and painting it, I also need to rewire the factory switch. Right now I can only turn them on with the headlights, which makes it hard to get a good picture of light/beam pattern.

It will be hard to compare the Lightforce to these, as the Lightforce are a true spot light and these are more of a spot/flood combo.

Thanks, Chris!
No rush though!

I've got a pair of 240's as well and I'm just mainly curious to see how those HID's stack up against them, although it would not be a fair comparison.

How are you planning on using each pair of them, simultaneously or (each pair) individually, for what conditions/applications?

ANYWAY, thanks again for posting and it will sound dorky, but I can't wait for you to start using/enjoying them! I'm sure it'll bring a big grin every time you turn them on.

Mot ;)

Thats a damn good idea Mot. I have a couple of Sylvania HID's that are just sitting in the garage; I might have to steal your idea. :D

wow they look similar to the fuego lights; that is a great price the fuego's are like 300 a piece. any ideas of a comparison to them?
