I believe this pot was specifically designed to be put on a ring stand burner. I've also seen them placed directly on camp fire coals dutch oven style. Either way, the pot is so deep, direct contact with the fire seemed like it was worth a shot. After I got the coal ready, I raked it to the sides and piled it up along the edges of the fire ring so that probably 3/4 of the pot had coal on it. It was like cooking in a wok.

Plus, the way I've got my egg mounted in the counter top, if I had put it up on the grate I'd have needed a step ladder to be able to stir around at the bottom.

Smoked some red potatoes and pork tenderloin for 2 hours today. Potatoes could have used a bit longer but both real good.
