Careful of the radiator and the plastic fittings if you climb up!!!

I cracked my radiator by climbing up on it. A few hundred dollars sent to Cdan landed me a replacement.

The update:
Well, now there is a lot more white smoke coming out the exhaust.

See post #18

My thoughts also.........just not ready to admit it.

Taking her to the garage now.

Ours blew a ton of white smoke when the injector shorted out. Cross your fingers, and pack a fire extinguisher.

If it is a stuck injector or a blown head gasket you should not run the motor, as either is going to result in additional damage with motor running.

I made it to the shop (fire extinguisher riding shot gun). Between them and me, we determined that it is not the HG. THANK GAWD!!

But it looks like Kaderabek is the winner. Everything is pointing to the #4 injector stuck wide open (a short). They are looking for the short now, and will fill me in. No telling what damage I have done to the cats. Can't believe the leak in the flange connecting the Ex-manifold to the pipe. Can't be that good of a seal for the exhaust if the fluid is dripping through the flange.

Coolant dripped onto ours, causing the short. You should find the source and repair that too.

For what it's worth, there was no other damage to our vehicle. Put in a new injector, good to go.

Well, I have some very good guys looking at it. They are digging in to find the short and fix it. Then see if the injector works. I am just worried about the secondary effects. Would be nice to pin this on bad gas (don't know how yet) because I already have a case number with Shell, and one of my benefits from my company is free lawyers.

Glad to hear your getting it worked out.

FIXED!!!

Shorted wire under the dash. Caused the #4 to stay wide open. Just like Kaderabeck. Fixed the rubbing against a metal braket, and insulated the wire. Everything runs smooth again. Only time will tell what the secondary effects of blowing so much fuel through the cats did.

Glad everything worked out for you. How about some pictures of the area where the wire(s) shorted out? It could help the rest of us to do some PM to prevent the same thing from happening.

I will take some and post them.

Glad you got it figured out. Crossing fingers for you that no damage was caused.

I second the pic request.

Mudshack,

Glad it turned out to be a shorted injector and not the HG. I've heard of a few others that have had shorts under the glove box and where the harness goes through the firewall. Sometimes it's a short and sometimes the wire is broken or two wires shorted.

We sure could use a picture of that area where your was repaired.

I will try to get a pic of the area. Tough spot. Aparently it had rubbed against a bracket, not the firewall. So it was completely behind the firewall and under the glove box. Running like new. Put some injector cleaner in this morning, full tank of fuel, and now I just need to take care of the domestic stuff with it.
