Evening lads,

This afternoon after 28 miles on the trail I found this bolt in the driver's footwell.
I don't recognize it but have to assume it came somewhere around the steering column area. I have looked but can't find anything obvious.
It's a little longer than 1 inch and has a number 11 stamped on the head.
Appreciate the help.

@NeverFinis thanks dude. I guess I need to search for the missing nut also 🙄

Thanks guys, I found the place where the bolt came from. Definitely no nut lying around the footwell. The splines on the bolt are confusing (to me any way). I will get the bolt back in tomorrow morning when there is better light.

Thanks again for your help. :)

They use the same bolts on the universal at the steering box. The splines confuse me as well. It seems like Toyota does everything for a reason... Does anyone know or have a theory why they used these bolts with splines in these locations?

They are break-away bolts. They are meant to shear in case of an accident so the intermediate shaft doesn't become a spear into someone's throat!

Thank you!!

You may need to re-align the holes with a screwdriver type thing before inserting the bolt into place!!

Got the bolt back in this morning with relative ease. A more thorough inspection of the rest of the bolts showed that I was also missing both bolts from the relay rod clamps. I think the worst thing that can happen is my steering wheel straightening up... 🙄

You are a lucky dude
