is taking apart the non-working latch going to show anything fixable or is this where I order a new one and hang a new part?

is taking apart the non-working latch going to show anything fixable or is this where I order a new one and hang a new part?
Remove and clean and lube and see if anything is obviously broken. There are some plastic bits in there, IIRC. Yours looks crusty so may just be binding.

Yep! Took it all apart. Used some Stihl brand trimmer blade cleaner/lubricant + a little WD40, and she’s working great!!
