This aisin FC is suppose to be the OEM toyota FC, isn't it? this is for an 06 LC.
#16210-50051 is thinner than what's in my LC now. Also has a blue pulley base. Where the one I took out has a red base and is thicker. It appears to fit fine. Before I bolt it up I wanted to check if anyone had any insight.

I cannot tell if the one I took off to install this new one is original fit. I'm thinking this is not the original fan clutch from the factory based on the nuts I spun off on the fan blade connection. Two were star type nuts and two were flat shouldered smooth face backs.

Also the black cover on the base on the engine side seems to wobble when I push on it. So am I right in thinking the nuts that hold the flange on (clutch side) bottom out on the stud at the threaded end? (engine side)

bolt hole size on both clutch atatchement flanges measure the same. 9, 9.5mm. maybe I'm being overly cautious. But this pulls the fan away from the shroud a little bit.
first picture might explain. I don't want to bolt it back up until with old or new until I figure something out.

I used Aisin FCT-021 and it fit fine and is the same size/thickness as the original. I have a '99 though.

So I guess for 2006 it's a different FC, #16210-50102 the # above seems good for 2005 and back. It took a while to figure this out. Amazon says the part # above fits 2006 LC. it doesn't. Anyway.... 16210-50102 is cheaper so I guess that's a bonus. Good exercise, remove, install, remove and reinstall original. Lol. I did install the thinner clutch and start it. I'm sure it would work fine for me. Back to amazon for credit.
Thanks guys.

99-2005 16210-50051 = Aisin FCT-021
2005-2007 16210-50102 = Aisin FCT-075
(16210-50102 supersedes 162100F010,1621050100,1621050101)

May 2005 production date seems to be the cutoff.

When in doubt, call the dealer parts dept with your VIN and ask them to confirm correct fitment, then you can cross reference to the Aisin part. $87 AISIN (amazon prime) part vs OEM at $147 (discounted dealer) quite a difference.

Is the AISIN part used for OEM? Wouldn't mind saving 50 bucks

Just go to Amazon, put your truck in your "garage", shop for the parts you want, they will tell you if it fits or not.
I have never had a problem with a part not fitting when they say it fits.

Yes, Aisin is the Toyota's mechanical parts division and Denso is the Toyota's electrical division. You should be able to see AISIN on the OEM fan clutch. Avoid any GMB products. Those are junk! I just replaced a GMB U-joint on a hilux that was replaced 3 years ago.

Has anyone had premature failure on these Aisin units? I’ve had mine in for 3 years and it’s showing signs of failing already. Are we sure they are identical to the OEM units?

What are the signs of failure youre experiencing? Hard to determine if this toyota part is specd to a different standard but I think in this case its doubtful.

Failing @ 3yrs seems unusual

In very hot temps (109+) while idling the temp will start to creep and ac cuts off. The fan is easily stopped by hand and doesn’t have much resistance. Very similar behavior to when I replaced the original fan clutch.

For those wondering, I replaced my fan clutch with another Aisin branded unit as the OEM version is now $180. With both the new and old unit at garage temperature (100 degrees or so) the new unit has significantly more resistance. I suspect this will fix my problem but I plan on rebuilding the old unit with a heavier weight oil just to have on hand as a backup.
