Hi all,

I am replacing the rear parking brake cable on my 2005 TLC. I'm at the point where I *think* the bracket should slide off the cable housing, but It won't budge. I've removed the clip holding the cable in place.

Any thoughts or suggestions? See photos.

Thanks!

It pushes through! But sometimes they're frozen in.

A little penetrating oil, heat (stay away from rubber) and small flat blade chisel. On opposite side from clip, wedge in the chisel and tap. Use diff housing as anvil.

Tap tap tap tap working to separate (pushing out cable #1 from female housing of cable #2) at joint. I find cable #2 female housing softer metal. So it takes the damage, more so than cable #1.

Be patient, keep tapping.

Alternative is too remove cable #1, which requires pulling front halve of center console.

You're welcome. Be careful with open flame. Don't use flame if any fuel smelt. Have fire extinguisher within reach. Just a little heat is all that's needed.
