I've got a tough one on my hands. My PS pulley broke in such a way that the pulley is now just spinning freely on the PS pump shaft. I can't get a grip anywhere on the shaft to get the front nut off. I am currently trying to saw off the back collar of the pulley with a hacksaw but that is slow-going. If anyone has an idea of how I might be able to get the nut off, I'd be very grateful.

I had this same problem - I bought a "strap wrench" at the local Home Depot/Lowes and was able to put this around the pulley itself and then use a breaker bar on the front nut.
After struggling for like 2 days - this took about 5 seconds.

Winston, thanks for the reply. How does that work? Since the pulley is no longer attached to the shaft I'm wondering how the strap would keep the shaft from turning.

The pump shaft is spinning because the pulley is no longer fastened to the shaft.

Howdy! You could try splitting the nut so it will come apart. I'm not familiar with the 60 series pump, but I would guess it does NOT have a threaded hole or allen in the front of the shaft like some domestic units. John

I can't remember how much space is in back of the pulley - enough room to fit some vice grips to hold the shaft?

Winston, no there isn't, but I'm hoping there will be after I get done with the hacksaw.

inkpot, I thought about trying to break the nut but I'm afraid of damaging the pump shaft.

Who's your daddy??!?!?!!

All it took was a hacksaw, three drill bits, a screwdriver, a vice grip, a 17mm and forty or fifty four-letter words.
