Help needed - Coolant spit around overflow reservoir

I don’t know why they’d go missing but this isn’t the first thread with this exact question.

As far as I can tell this is the original shroud & reservoir/cap on my 13 cruiser, or at least since I got it in 2018. Gasket included.

@bloc, my 2013 doesn't have it either. I just purchased replacement today. do you have any links to other threads with this same issue? any discussion about why it would spill over besides just cap is missing seal?

I was careless with my “jump to new” and didn’t realize this very thread was what I was thinking of.

The only other reason I could think of is lots and lots of flow out of the radiator into the reservoir, and in that case you’d know you had other problems.

No idea why this is so widespread but I’m confident our rigs were supposed to come with the gasket. Sloshing coolant everywhere is very un-Toyota-like.

At least the cap with gasket is cheap. Part number is 16405-50080 for the record.

Confirming the factory cap on my 2021 LC200, which I have owned from new, does have the rubber gasket/seal.

Interestingly the original factory cap appears to have coolant written on there in Japanese, or so I would assume. Any replacement bought online or from the dealer (I prefer to get OEM) would for me be cause for suspicion as to a Chinese counterfit part, then again it is just a cap. Maybe time to learn Japanese so I can distinguish from Chinese. If only... :)
