Ride yes .. the CT26 it's the factory turbo in many toyota engines .. they made a nice variety of CT26 to fit all of those engine versions ..

I hope you realize that the 2860 is not going to be a bolt on swap if you find one. You will have to work out the oil feed and return lines as well as make or buy an adapter to fit it to your manifold. You will also have to work out the water lines or block the water lines on the 12HT.
Also keep in mind that if your compressor fan has disintegrated the metal went into your intercooler and engine.

I just did a quick google search for turbo shops in vegas with no luck. Those turbos are all over ebay. Maybe one of the sellers is in vegas.
Good luck

thanks, here is the link that Tapage send me on ebay,

thanks Dough i am calling them now.

and thank you all ih8mud been very helpul

If you go with a CT26 that was not on a 12HT you will have to remove the compressor housing and then remove a pin or two so you can rotate the housing to the right configuration. You will also have to figure out a way to mount the waste gate actuator because when you rotate the compressor the mount will be in the wrong position.

Be aware - the turbo doug linked you to is a chinese reproduction. It may be fine but ....

Agreed on unknown quality of the this turbo. I have not used the company or this turbo, but I know a guy that is using one now. So far so good...??!!

Doug

i don't think i can get this turbo today, it seems that i will need to drive to los angeles to get it and have it tomm. there is also another chinese reproduction for 298. dollars here is the link toyota landcruiser 4.2TD ct26 turbo charger 90-91-92: eBay Motors (item 380247459518 end time Jul-07-10 22:25:08 PDT)

if i have to drive to los angeles there is a garrett turbo distributor in fontana, i am just wandering if it is best to just go ahead and get a garrett since i have to drive there anyway. this way i do not have to worry about it in the long term. i know it will be more expensive. the other concern is the amount of modification i have to do. if i go with garrett i can take my turbo with me, maybe they can do the modification there. i think the place is Fontana Turbo charger, i will post the link later.

does any one have experience with the chinese reproduction? there are also some on ebay made by turbo works is that a reliable company? i will google it.

As mentioned in the PM, a GT2560R is a good size for a heavy wagon like yours, the GT2860 will also work but is bigger so will lose more low end boost.
Neither are bolt on options, you need an adapter plate, a new downpipe and changes to your intake piping as well as oil lines.

garrett turbo seem to be a complicated option for my situation. i am trying to get back on the road. what do you think of the China made turbos. if i drive 4 hours i can get one of those. i still can not find a place in las vegas, nevada that can rebuilt my turbo.

Non branded parts are a personal call. I'd do it for my truck but in the end it's up to you and the risks you want to take.

Well, that's what I got (I suspect a seal on the turbocharger is on it's way out too...). My understanding is that if wastegate is stuck open, oil pressure rises as the revs pick up but no intake pressure so seal leaks. 2c.

If the wastegate stays open the turbo will not be building up pressure so the engine runs basicaly like a normal atmosferic one.
If the wastegate stays close however you will get a higher turbo pressure which will on an older engine result in high sump pressure, due to air leaking between piston and cilinder, which leads to oil spill in the intake through the sump ventilation. This effect will be even greater in hot conditions.

Rideglobally, I would recoment to check the compression on your cilinders, you can find out if the parts from your turbo did any damage to your cilinders/pistons. Better now to find out if there is a problem than when it's all fixed and the engine starts to go again when it gets hot.

Good luck and I hope you'll be on your way soon.

i agree you i will need to get my compression check but one of the challenge i found with this engine is that i have not found anyone in my location that have the tool to check compression.
fortunately in my situation i will be ok with that issue because i have a very large oil catch can installed that works very well, no oil blow back finds its way back into the engine.
i am not yet back on the road, yesterday was a holiday in america so all the turbo shops are closed. i did learned that my best option is to find a shop that can rebuild my turbo because i have not found a turbo that will just bolt in with out doing modification.
so today i will be running around crazy trying to locate that shop. i have not found a shop in las vegas, all the shop i found so far are 4 hours away.

thank you:cheers:

That is outstanding. Great to see you got it sorted. The blokes that rebuilt your turbo would have noticed if anything was missing [fins etc]. Was it just the turbo seals that gave up? Goodluck & safe trip for the rest of your journey.

A good find on the repair, and glad you appear to be getting back on the road in short time.

Good travels

Doug

That's good to hear. I hope you will keep us informed as to the failure.
Is your engine running a very high oil pressure by any chance. When the oil pressure relief valves start to get jammed in the bore the pressure can be well over 100PSI. Enough pressure to bend the oil filter or blow the gasket.
