Won't you save a Cruiser?? :D

If anyone wants to be there when we bring a Cruiser back to life this weekend and help Jonathon and I, we'd appreciate the help!

The 62 with the blown engine that hasn't run in a few years will be brought back to life this weekend. We've got the motor in the garage and will be hooking back up the tranny and putting everything back in the truck tomorrow. Then on Sunday finishing up all of the connections and then the moment I've been waiting for - for 2 months: Turning the igniton key and bringing her back from the dead!!

I'm stoked, but we could definitely use some help- Even if it's just handing tools etc.

Home phone: 623-551-1623

Address: 40721 N Territory Trail - Anthem
Take I-17 to Anthem way - Go right onto Anthem way and follow to Independence. Go right on Independence and take the 3rd right which is Territory Trail. On the left hand side 4 houses down you'll see the Cruisers.

Thanks and if you can't make it, we'll se ya soon!

I just MIGHT videotape it! :bounce:

Yep- I picked up the parts today along with a nice new Landcruiser keychain that I will use once it runs. Thanks for your help!

Did I mention it will be a gorgeous Az day to be wrenching??

How about beer? OK- maybe lunch too?

damn id love to give u guys a hand but i am in colorado right now. if something doesnt work out ill be back on the 14th and would be happy to help out.

The engine is ready to go back in- We're a little behind schedule but can still get it done today. any help would be appreciated. We're starting this morning with one of the more difficult parts. Getting the engine back in and in place. Then we can start hooking stuff up.

Well, the operation was a success. At about 8:00 last night we were through hooking everything back up and turned the ignition but it wouldn't start~ Gues what? No gas! It had sat for so long with no gas so we filled her up and BOOM we have a running truck!!

:bounce: :bounce:  :bounce: :bounce:  :bounce:

I took the day off work today to finish things up: Putting the cross member on, tightening up some bolts, putting the hood back on etc. but other than that we're done!

Thanks so much to Lee for helping on Saturday and to Clay for helping on Sunday. We would have been a few hours behind without you Rhino- your expertise in getting the engine back in was so great. Last but DEFINITELY not least, Thanks to Jonathon (HJ60) who has about 40 work hours into this truck so far! Talk about a great club member and friend~ I didn't even know him when we started this project and he dove head first into replacing the engine on someone elses truck. He's the best.

See ya'll Friday!!!

This Thred Is Worthless Without Pics!

what,?,? its an engine going into a bay, if you need pics to visualize that you may as well put away your tools and never go into the garage again :flipoff2:

Rightlane... that was gay!

Rhino... I mean pics of his rig. Haven't seen any yet. And its always good to get pics of your buddies for chop fodder.

*Bump*

Hey Brian,
Howsabout a status update?
You driving it yet?

Nope- She's still at the shop. They're trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with the distributor. The guy filling in for my regular mechanic said "it needs to be replaced"

So I keep asking What part?? The distributor only has a few parts to it- which part needs to be replaced??

I called cruiseparts to see if they had one, but all they have is the lower section and until I find out which part needs replacing I'm not buying anything.

62 parts are hard to find! Anyone know where else I could find the rotor and down ??

Well, I'm still thinking pickup coil.
And I still think that can be swapped out of any 2F/3F-E dizzy.
Specter disagrees with me, though. *shrug*

Brian you might want to give Tim at Land Cruiser Parts (Marana AZ) a call if he does not have one I sure he could point you in the direction of one.

Thanks. I might have found a complete distributor from a guy in TX- Working out the shipping details now.
