Hello again everyone,

I finally got my Cruiser back on the road after getting back from Afghanistan. It is running great, but has some odds and ends stuff that I can't do myself.

Does anyone know of a good FJ Mechanic in the MD/SE PA area that is reputable.

Thanks in advance and I will be posting pics of the finished job soon.

THANKS!!!

I'm glad your back from the sand box, I get upset thinking about all of our people over there in the line of fire. I hope you came back with everything you took. Feel free to drop me a pm or shoot an email out to me kennethcarbaugh@hotmail.com . I familiar with western MD and parts of se PA as I went to frostburg state and lived and hunted in and around cumberland and Garrett County.

Thanks for the response and heres my loc

Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I am in Central Maryland or Southeast PA, York County area.

To be honest the Cruiser is running quite well. We replaced the clutch, which was bad due to a rear main seal leak. After replacing the rear main, we replaced the driver's side floor board and rear sill.

What I have left is a leaking transfercase, which I believe will be fixed with a gasket and some wiring work. (Turn signals not working/brake lights etc.)

I really just want to get a GOOD once over done on it, so I am certain with the reliability.

It is a stock Cruiser, with an aftermarket Weber Carb, made for the 72 FJ40. The rest is basically stock.

Hope this helps and thanks again.

if you are looking for a shop, there are no cruiser shops around here. there are a few toyota places however.
there's a junk yard guy, that i think has a shop, in york co, the redlion area. he's mainly a pick up guy......and the name is alluding me at the moment. pretty sure he runs an ad in the auto locator.

avoid toytech in dauphin co(unless you have way more money than you really will ever need). enough said.
however also in dauphin co, right around grantville, is shelby automotive. once agian not a cruiser, or even offroad shop. he is/was however a ceritfied toyota tech, he spent, iirc, 21 years at a toyota dealer.
he did work for me on a pickup and the celica, he seems to know his stuff.
he also has some cruiser time under his belt, the dealer(harrisburg toyota) he worked at had a 40 as a lot/plow truck(was an '82, in rough shape the last i saw it).
he is pretty strict on his state inspections.

and you my have noticed there are not many cruiser heads in the area
