Could you help me out and identify a part for me? I'm in a non-English speaking country so the mechanic doesn't know what the part is called in English.

it looks like one of your tapered roller bearings only it looks like all the rollers are missing. "Knuckle" bearing. full rebuild kit to do both sides should be about $120 (USD)

Yep, Trunion bearings are roached, full rebuild is in order.
