Hello all,

I'm the very happy owner of a 2018 LC that I purchased last year. It has been well taken care of--including the pricey 50k service from the dealer about 3 weeks ago--and the truck drives and feels tip top in every way. I've been reading this site a ton, and it's been an invaluable resource. But I'm now posting here for the first time because I've got a mystery I'm hoping you can help me solve:

This afternoon I reversed out of my driveway and started to drive away when my 7yo son looked out the window and said "Hey what's that?" I got out and found the below object sitting in the middle of the driveway. It's some kind of plastic cover with foam padding on the inside. There's damage on it--one of the plastic "domes" looks like it got smashed/sheared. I googled the numbers and based on "35010" think it may be related to the transmission. I also looked under the truck and didn't see anything obviously missing or any place where this part could go (though admittedly I don't have much experience looking under there!). It's all very strange--how would all 3 bolts come out so cleanly? And I didn't see any bolts anywhere in any case. And I definitely didn't run over anything in my driveway or hear any noise whatsoever. Anyone know what this is? Is this something that the dealer forgot to reattach when they did the service? How much of a problem is it for me to drive the truck without it?

Would really appreciate any help!

Best,
Richard

its a cover that goes on the side of the transmission you have to take it off to get to the trans fill plug. sounds like somebody forgot to tighten the bolts.

It fits on the upper left side of the transmission. The bolts are hard to get to so someone forgot to tighten after loosely putting them in the holes. Having it off means fluid was added to the transmission during a service. Any indication of that in the vehicle service records?

Thanks all! I don't have the service records in front of me right now but this would make sense given my recent "major" service by the dealer. I'll give them a call so they can reinstall it.

is that something in recent version of lc200? My 2011 lx doesn't have any such cover nor did I see any such instruction on how to check and fill transmission fluid for 200 series.

Yes, 2016+ got a different 8-speed transmission than the 08-15 6-speed.
