help getting turbo emblem (1 Viewer)

hi guys,

I've tried ordering the red turbo grille emblem that gilghana also put on his 1HZ-T variant (see his photo below), but according to toyota its discontinued and they can't get it. does anyone know where i might be able to get one or does anyone have one they want to 'donate' to my cause?

forgot to list the part number 75312 - 90K02 or that it comes from BJ74 and LJ70s, probably from others as well with a different code for the different grille attachment bits behind... any one will do me!

What I am attempting to make up will be the rear-style, which is the same size but with a flat back. It mounts with emblem tape. The stuff should stick to a grille as well if the mesh is tight enough.

You could also drill small holes in the black part and mount it with black screws and a plate in the back. That is how I would do it, as the vibrations would probably loosen it over time.

well, its not the red one, but i think i found something that better suits my grille. after a long search of the EPC for all toyota models with turbos, i found a number of different turbo grille emblem codes that i got my toyota man to check out... leading to this one being still in issue from a 11/1997 HDJ80L-GNMEX. i didn't really know what it'd be like until i received it today, but i think i'm better off than the red one given my grille style... about $30 and less than 2 weeks delivery time, a happy ending! emblem to go on tomorrow

two weeks ago toyota japan had 42 in stock, now 41... enjoy!

Did you ever get emblems made?

Yes I did. It was an expensive experiment. The look decent after you put half a dozen coats of clear o them (3D printed). The durability was not as good as I hoped. They tend to warp after a year or so out in the wild.

Yeah 3D printing is still very limited in real world uses, there are a ton of plastic formulas for a ton of applications, very few of which are similar to that used by printers , not to mention the coarse and porous finish

2023 bump... LOTS of improvements in 3D printing and filaments since 2018; Carbon Fiber blends are becoming quite readily affordable and inexpensive as one example. I'm just starting to investigate on making some of these, need to find that font type and then create a model of it, or maybe even go buy a hand held 3D scanner which would probably be simpler.
