I removed the plastic bug deflector on the hood this afternoon, and in the process several of the plastic trim fasteners broke. These trim bits (on the left in the pictures) hold the screws that attach the hood seal that runs along the leading edge of the hood so I need to get my hands on some new ones. Anyone know the part number or where I can find them?

Pfran posted a link a while back, couldn't find the thread though

Edit: I do not think it was pfran, but I remember him being a part of that thread

sverige, are you sure the seal under the bug deflector is original equipment? mine got destroyed on removal and i was thinking about replacing it... but then i saw that there is another rubber seal strip in there already... left me wondering if the one under the bug deflector was necessary? i do have a little hood wobble at freeway speed, so i am left wondering if that bug deflector seal is indeed OE...

Hmm... not sure its OE. Assumed that it was though because when I closed the hood after removing the bug deflector there is now a gap where the leading edge of the hood meets the grill (see picture). There is an inner seal on the underside of the hood that connects with the radiator, but it seems as though it should have the seal along the leading edge of the hood as well. Do other trucks have this?

PFRAN, you have been helping me out to find stuff all over the place. Do you know the link referred to above? Thx!

That leading edge should have a rubber weatherstrip type strip bolted to the hood. You can also compensate for the gap by turning the bump stops for the hood in a little bit. They are located near the corners of the hood and are round. You can tighten them by hand. Just make sure that you don't tighten them so much that you have play in the hood when it is closed.

When the port-installed bug deflector was added, they had to "raise" the hood a tiny bit and they did so by un-tightening the hood bump stops.

Interesting. I removed my hubs deflector last year and always noticed the lip of my hood sits just barely above the fender lip on each side. I'll lower mine this weekend and see if that fixes it. I get a little hood flutter at highway speed too. Maybe I have to much "lift" from the bump stops.

Question for your junkies. I added long travel hood struts, do I need to lower the bumpstops? :flipoff2:

Bug deflector clips

I removed the port installed bug deflector and fasteners and attached the rubber gasket with the original Toyota clips. The part number is 90467-08011. The clips costs $0.60 each.

That is the part number, thank you. I was at the local Toyota parts department looking for instant fastener satisfaction and got them for $0.41 each. While there I looked at some others and it looks like when Toyota installs the bug deflector they use the fancy screw fastener that I posted pics of above. If you don't have the Toyota bug deflector, you probably have the simple fastener Furthur07 identified will secure the seal at the leading edge of the hood. Since I no longer have the bug deflector - 14x 90467-08011 and done!

Thanks all!
