Hey guys, I've been trying to find this adapter piece for my fuel pressure testing kit so I can test the fuel pressure at the rail on my LX450. I've tried ordering this piece from three locations in the Sates that offer shipping to Canada and all three times the size has been wrong. I've tried local suppliers and everything and nobody seems to be able to help me.

Two questions:

1 - Does anyone in Canada know a location where I can order this from on this side of the fence?

2 - Are there any Americans who might be able to help me out locating this piece from a reliable supplier who is willing to ship to Canada?

Thanks everyone for their help.

I tested my fuel pressure a few years ago and at that time ordered two adapters.

M12x1.25
M12x1.50

I didn't connect it to the fuel rail because that location is so hard to reach. Instead I connected to the front of the fuel filter.

And I know it's not much help...but I don't remember which one was the correct thread size.

But one of them did work.

I can tell you from personal experience trying to install that Actron fitting you listed, and using it where the FSM says is a real bitch. I'm working on making a fitting that will test fuel pressure that'll fit on the fuel rail in between the fuel rail and the fuel pressure regulator. A location like that would be a heck of alot easier to use then where the FSM wants you to test it at.

^^^^^

Yeah, I took one look at where the FSM wants you to connect to and said NOPE!

It's way in the back and you can just barely even see the spot. It might be the 'best' place with respect to getting the most accurate fuel pressure reading, but where I connected to worked just fine.

I'm a little surprised Toyota didn't include a spot (built in) on the fuel rail to take readings...but they didn't. I guess too much potential for a leak.

I just recently had to replace the hard fuel line that runs from the back of the fuel filter to that location (after I completely twisted and destroyed it... whoops) and while it wasn't easy, it wasn't too bad... took some patience for sure, though.

Any chance I can pay you to order those two fittings and then ship them to me up here in British Columbia? :)

... and now I feel like a bit of an idiot. :)

Thank you flintknapper! I'll be sure to order it once the seller is back from vacation (which I had no idea you could "be" on eBay.... away for vacation.... interesting).

No you're NOT an idiot. Sometimes we just need a little direction.

Hope that will solve your problem. Wish I could have been more help, its just that I can't remember for sure which thread pitch it was. But if the 1.50 you had tried before was not it...then this should be. (1.25)

Good luck with your project and please feel free to participate here on the forum more often. We're all here to learn.

OK, finally had time to dig up all my stuff down at my shop. The fitting is a M12 x 1.25 (not 1.5) or at least that fits both sides of the fuel filter if you choose to place it there. I can't imagine the thread pitch at the fuel rail is different but I didn't test mine there....so can't say for certain.

I ended up using a Banjo Bolt fitting that I could attach a 90° elbow to. Then used a short length of 1/8" NPT pipe (with the schrader valve fitting on the end of it) to extend it far enough to make it easy to attach my tester.

You could also cap it off if you wanted to leave it for future testing or attach a pressure gauge, but both would create an object that might leak.

This is awesome information Flint!

Thank you for sharing. I just ordered that one fitting you linked me to earlier in this discussion thread. Hopefully it's the correct one this time. :S

I just recently replaced the fuel filter on my 1FZ and I gotta say, I personally find it harder to access than up top in the rear where the fuel line enters the rail (and where Toyota recommends putting in the tee for testing). Maybe it's because I'm 6'3 and have long arms. :)

Thank you for your help and assistance!

I'm 6'-5" and also have long arms, but I weigh in at 270 lbs. also. My 'long' arms terminate in no wrists (just sort of go into meaty hands/paws) and reaching into tight spots (which is almost anyplace on an 80 series) is something I try to avoid.

But...back on subject, I hope it works out well for you. Please post a follow up when you are finished so that someone else in the future might benefit from your experience.

Thanks,

Flint.
