Today I finally tore into my winch to troubleshoot my problems with freespooling out and powering in. Poser and others had previously advised that the brake was likely frozen up. I also found that my motor pinion gear was messed up. I called Warn to order parts. They said that my gear was obsolete and had been changed to a new design several years ago. The only thing they could do was sell me a new design motor to the tune of about $400. Is there any chance anyone has this gear laying around ?
I was prepared to spend $ for the brake service kit but I cannot handle a new motor. See picture below. I only need the gear. Warn part no is 9054. Any help or advice much appreciated.

Keep an eye on ebay and the classifieds, you're going to have to find a used gear if you want to stay with the keyed shaft. Depending on how much the gear costs, you can get a splined shaft motor on ebay for ~$115 (much cheaper than from Warn).

Good luck!

If that gear is your only problem, i would just weld some blobs on the gear end and then grind them down to shape. The areas that are broken are not mission critical. The welding and grinding will be obscured by the fork.

Sorta tired....did that make sense?

Thanks guys. My chances of finding this gear is probably slim to none. I checked out the motors on Ebay and the one I could find did not list 8274 application. The narrow row of teeth that are worn down have to drive something so I didn't think I could just build up that area with weld to keep it on the fork. I may be SOL and my winch end up being a bumper ornament.

John Witt at the Four Wheel Drive Center of Minnesota, the only guy still producing components for the old Bellview winch, had this gear made.

For any old Bellview parts, or this obsolete gear, he is your guy.
