Hello everyone!

Current owner of a 2011 GX 460. Had it since 2019 and currently have 155,000 miles on it.

Just some basic mods done so far:

tires that can make use of the full time 4WD
removed the 3rd row
installed a homemade drawer system in place of the 3rd row (mainly tool storage)
Bought the glovebox four covey divider from amazon (jury is still out on it)
getting ready to add the external filter to the secondary air pump
getting ready to change: rear diff oil, front diff oil, transfer case oil and transmission fluid.

Long term goals:
Roof rack
Aux fuse block to help run radios, lights and more power to the inside of the cab
add GMRS radio
add light bars
add some power outlets to the inside of the cab

maybe a front steel bumper
maybe CB radio

Looking forward to sharing ideas with everyone!

Welcome! Any pics?

Sounds like a good mild build. Do you do many trails/off roading?

Also, why GMRS and CB? Most off roaders are now using HAM. Yeah, you have to take a simple test to legally use it, but range is much greater and far more people use it than CB's now. CB's were so last century (Smokey and the Bandit, rubber ducky trucker days). In case of an emergency and cell towers go down, HAM is what people will be on. A HAM radio with 50 watts, which is what most mobile units have can transmit/receive 50 miles and more depending upon conditions and line of sight. I've been able to hit our local mountian (Santiago Peak) from my home, line of sight is over 20 miles with my handheld 5 watt HAM radio and stock antenna. We've been able to reach our 4x4 club up in out local mountains from over 20 miles out.
An inexpensive handheld GMRS radio is fine if you're in close proximity other rigs in your group.

My main travels is on the interstate and most of my travel group has CB's. With the new FM CB radios, they are better that what was out before.

GMRS I can get the whole family up and running and have a easy to use form factor.

HAM is on my long-long-term radar but I don't have any immediate friends that run HAM and I don't need a license to just listen. When I get some stuff done around the house I was going to study up for the Tech and General exams.

Sounds good! Absolutely agree, go with what's available, that being said go with what your crew uses!
Also, you're correct, anyone can listen on HAM, but to transmit, one needs a license. Albeit, there are some in our 4x4 club that have HAM radios but no licenses, but they only use it when we're on trails. Personally I don't have an issue when used in close proximity like that. I have more concerns when folks are blasting out nonsense and not following HAM protocols, not having a license.

Looking forward to some pictures as you at to your rig!!
