Hi all. I just purchased a 1971 FJ40. I've been wanting one for as long as I can remember. I'll be looking for help, I'm sure as I run through it trying to fix all the little issues a 54 year old vehicle tends to have. So far I've gotten the throttle and choke linkage attached the new carb the previous owner put on and hooked the fuel line up to the new tank. Adjusted the clutch from the new clutch master and slave cylinders that had been installed and have it running and driving. I swapped out the points for an electronic ignition system yesterday and it starts right up now. Burns some oil at the moment, but I hope that might subside as it has a chance to run for what appears to be quite awhile. Fuel tank sensor was hooked up backwards which I corrected and now the gauge works. At any rate, plenty to do, but have a decent fishing/hunting/dirt road rider at the moment.
