Good news all.

The equipment that SFWDA has donated to the Friends of Uwharrie is enroute either this week or at the latest next week. SFWDA is paying to actually get the pieces of equipment here. Yes that is correct. Not just one item but right now we are looking at 2 items and maybe a total of 4 items if we can talk them into it.

The 2 pieces that have been confirmed are the Backhoe, and a 5 ton old school Military dump truck. The other 2 items we are talking to them about are 2 trailers to be able to haul things on the trails behind Cruisers / or trucks / or whatever you drive that is capable of towing .

This stuff is being donated to Friends of Uwharrie to keep up in Uwharrie. The items of equipment do drive right now but we know there are some issues with a few things . With that i would ask your help to donate to Friends of Uwharrie to get these items in a operable on the trails condition.

These items will help our club be able to maintain our trail that we have signed up for. You will not even have to put fuel in them to be able to use them. Of course the operators will have to be qualified on the item to use it.

Right now as it stands we do not need people to donate time to work on these, but we would like people to donate a few dollars to be able to get the items we need.

The place where you can make a donation is http://friendsofuwharrie.org/index.html

In closing this long post out i would encourage you to take a little time out of your day to go over to the SFWDA http://sfwda.org/ and to think about joining them either as an individual or our club joining them, cause without their help / kindness we would not be able to get these items of equipment. And take some time to also thank Scott Fields, as because of him they are being donated to Uwharrie. He has been a charter member of SFWDA for a "few" years now.

Pictures of the equipment will be posted here soon so you can get a better idea of what we are receiving.

I warned you all about me going buck wild on this Uwharrie stuff up there and you would be asked for a few things if i got voted in.

So, who will be the first to step up to the plate ? And can we maybe talk the club into helping ?

I actually had contacted them about what was necessary for the club to join last year. I need to dig that information back up. I'll post it here when I get home tonight...

A 5 ton dump truck ?!?!?!?!?!? CAN I DRIVE IT??????

We need to join Friends of Uwharrie as a club.

Pfft, I bet I could figure it out.

Gasoline or diesel?

No way that is gas def a multifuel engine either continental, hercules or white, 2nd in line to drive

Drove one at work but it was already running, I do remember the shifting pattern being a strange one. I do remember the owner showing me two levers that need to be pushed in and pulled up, but I have no idea what they do.

Maybe Darin will tell us

it's probably a multi-fuel truck designed to run primarily on Diesel but also JP4 (jet fuel), kerosine, aviation gas or regular gas if it has to. Better on run on Diesel or JP4, then Kerosine and gas a last resort. Some of the newer ones are called Whistlers and they are Cummins powered and run just on Diesel IIRC.

He has a bad ass armored personnel carrier powered by a big block Mopar!

My friend collects those and other military trucks www.tacticaltruck.com

He drove about 40+ of us to see GWAR and the Meatmen in a HUGE 5 ton version for a friend's bachelor party.

I am a decent Bobcat operator let me see if I can make one of those days. I'm in the process of moving so I can't commit until it's closer to the date.

Those toys r awesome! Ure definitely needed em. I've operated most types of compact equipment in my line of work. I'll leave that dump truck alone though. Looks rough.

As a former office of SFWDA (membership director and treasurer) and an active member, I'd love to see us join SFWDA. The organization needs more clubs (like ours) that are active in helping maintain trails.

So guess you know Gunter pretty well then.

Yes ... actually, it's Gunnar. He owns a pipeline construction business in Alabama and is one of the founding members of SFWDA.

Great guy.
