Heater Tech: Aftermarket Heater Install

After putting in my SM465 swap, I can't get the stock heater back in. It was kinda crap anyway, and the blower motor broke a few months before I started the swap anyway.

Bought the heater kit from JC Whitney $199 and free shipping :sweet.

I wired 2 relays directy to my aux fuse block which is fed by the battery. The original wiring is getting a little weak so I have been wiring all new electircal (engine computer, radio, CB, power outlet, and now heater) to the new switched fuse block.

I wired the dash switch to actuate either relay, high and low. The fan actually has 3 speeds, high, med and low. I may someday switch high for medium, this thing really kicks out the heat.

did you get the Defrost to work too.

hey, your from Colorado, here we use Home Depot Angle Iron instead of Duck tape and bailing wire.. lol!

I'm think about adding something to cover up the scaffolding in the front just below the dash. Maybe bolt on a little tray to catch junk, or if I can find another dash pad, put that on there.

End result, with leaky softtop and back window up, the cab stayed toasty warm and window defrosted even @ 5 miles of freeway (70+MPH) driving.

Yup.

That angle iron is good suff!

edit: only had to drill 2 holes for the whole installation. Hate to drill new holes in the LC.
