Help!

im currently in the middle of replacing my heater Ts- on hour 2. I cannot get the broken pieces out of the hoses, nor get the hoses themselves off.

ive tried soapy water, windex, etc. Only have about an hour of light left and I need the LC to get to work……

any guidance is appreciated!

Squeeze the clamps and take them off twisting and twisting. Based on the orientation of the clamp ears, the Ts are probably original.

Cut the hoses off and replace with new Toyota hoses. Some of your hoses don’t look so good anyways.

Got one of the Ts out. Rough shape. The one that is closer to the drivers side has basically shattered. I’m assuming these are the originals….. 215k miles.

contacted a local mobile mechanic who has a great reputation to get the hoses removed/cleaned out and new Ts put in.

I absolutely should have ordered the hoses too, but one of the Ts started leaking badly on Friday so I rushed some OEM ones.

if anyone has the OEM part numbers for the hoses I’ll order them right now.

thank you all!!

Best way I have found to remove heater hoses or radiator hoses is to heat them up with a heat gun. Then removal is easy. Learned the hard way.......

He’s been out of stock for a while now. I keep checking every week hoping that it’s finally in stock but haven’t had any luck yet.
Part numbers are there. Buy elsewhere.

If you use his part numbers and plan to order the 12 clamps, you may want to check whether there is a different part number for the ones going on the smaller diameter connections of the T. Can anyone chime in on this?

Yes. There are 3 different size clamps used on these coolant hoses.

9613442100 X4
9613652101 X4
9046719022 X4

Per the parts diagram I reviewed.

Mine were similar when I did the Ts. Luckily I had learned my lesson with my 60 and had one of these hose tools that I used to remove.
Definitely see if your local dealer has the hoses or see if you can get something from a LAPS. Go OE if you can.

I wouldn't even think of replacing the tees without the hoses. I had heater hoses stuck like that on my old Montero, and the only way I could figure to get them off was to remove the clamps, and then use a razor blade to cut long ways down the hose. Even then, they were still hard to remove, but I could use a pry tool to pry the hose off in the newly made cut. Good luck!

I agree with @xplore here. Change the T's, hoses, and clamps. Back in 17' I caught a leaking heater T and changed out both without doing the hoses. Last month I changed the all the coolant hoses associated with the heater T's and installed fresh heater T's while I was in there. All of my coolant hoses were rock hard and all of them were seeping ever so slightly. Not so much that it was causing lots of pick crust, although there was a little build up one hose connection.

Update:

Paid a local shop to finish this off for me- they basically finished the job and flushed my cooling system for the cost of the flush. Fine by me. They also put a different coolant in it than what it had....... they work on tons of 100 series and they claimed the almost blood red coolant I had in it was the wrong stuff? I've only driven like 50 miles since I picked it up but temps seem the same as before.....

What coolant did they put in?

They are wrong if they worked on your 02 LC.
