Quick question to the forum- do I need a heat riser block off plate when running headers with a stock intake? I’ll be getting the headers coated or wrapped, also running the carb fan, for what it’s worth

I made own stepped washers to make up the difference between the thickness the header and the manifold. I put in longer "studs" to accommodate the new washers and 2 man-a-fre gaskets that were installed wet. I planed both units flat on a big piece of glass with sand paper. I also used stainless steel nuts.

I cut a "V" notch in the air cleaner housing mounting bracket so I could get a socket on the manifold underneath.

Lastly I made a fluid heat riser to prevent carburetor icing in the fog. It is plumed into the heater hose circuit so it shuts off with the heater valve.

In Alabama it will seldom be a factor, but in any climate where it gets cooler, a blockoff plate/ intake heater system is a "really should do" modification once you remove the OEM exhaust manifold.
