Yes. The t-case seems to put out considerable heat.

Did you check the seat heater...?

Install some type of reflective, heat rated, insulation material between the floor and the t-case? I haven't put my IR thermometer to it...but get similar heat coming up especially noticeable under the general passenger seat area...as well as cup holder/center console area too (great for keeping hot drinks hot...no so much for cold drinks cold). AT could be a contributor also...

In 2009 I limped into ABQ with a rear pinion seal and rear axle bearing failure issue. Upon driving the rig directly to American Toyota, where Onur then worked and CDan still does of course, Aaron the mechanic that worked on it said the t-case was too hot to touch; but no IR temp taken. That's when I put 2 and 2 together about the radiant heat effect in the cabin from the floor pan area...

My center console cupholders get fairly warm on long trips. I don't think there's much you can do other than making sure all of the heat shields under the car are intact.

I have the Weathertech floor mats and they can block the heat vent on back of center console. If something is blocking that vent when heater is on, the front seats and center console will get very toasty.

Are there specific aftermarket heat shields for this or just mod metal and bolt on?

This used to happen to us a lot, especially on trips. Turns out the wife would out a cooler behind the center console, thus blocking that air vent. The heat had nowhere to go. Check that first. Also, sometimes the kids would put the rear heat on with the front AC on.
