Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site so I apologize if I'm posting my question/concern in the wrong area - still figuring things out.

My spouse and I recently picked up two 2021 LC 200s, and we noticed right away that the front driver and passenger headrests have a pretty awful rattle. The rattle gets much worse as the headrest goes up, but some rattling can still be heard when the headrest is completely down. I was thinking the issue was unique to my vehicle until my spouse's vehicle arrived and started rattling as well. I'm debating on whether or not to take them to the dealership, but since this seems to be a common issue I'm not sure what all they can do.

I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this issue (I've seen other posts related to seat rattles and some rattling on older LC 200 models), and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a solution.

Thank you!

‘21 HE. Started noticing mine more on the passenger side (4500 miles). Worse when no passenger present, also worse when fully extended. Driver side isn’t as bad but I do notice it.

my passenger side also rattles. Jeeezz I didn't realize this would be so prevalent. Hope someone finds a solution as my passenger headrest rattles even all the way down. It's minor but still annoying nonetheless.

Same rattle here in a ‘’20 HE. Leaving it down completely eliminates mine.

Also a faint trim rattle in the drivers front window trim (little triangle.)

A bit disappointed as I bought this almost purely for the build quality and long term reliability. I traded a ‘20 E63 wagon on this because of its rattles and road noise. But these are the only rattles I’ve noticed after 5k miles in the cruiser.

I got a '21 last week. My passenger seat headrest rattles. Very annoying. Doesn't matter if if its up or down. I'll have to admit it seems like it's just loose in the seat when it's up because there is a bit of movement back and forth. Dealer told me that's the way these are and there is nothing to do about it. I told him unacceptable. We're waiting to hear more from Toyota. Have you following this thread learned of anything more on a resolution? Thanks.

Yeah, it seems my 2021 HE pass headrest rattles even more than on my 2015. Pushing the headrest all the way down however takes care of it.

It is annoying given how otherwise solid/rattle free these trucks are.

I wonder if some weight added to it somehow would positively impact the harmonic that seems to get mine rattling.

My only concern is affecting the whiplash preventing mechanism Of the headrest. I thought about wrapping the (unseen) part of the headrest stem with electrical tape…but again, not wanting to decrease effectiveness of safety feature.

I didn’t even know it had that. Great point.

The active headrest safety system may be just the 2016's on up, not sure for certain though.

There is headred safety built into the headrest? didn't know that...

Maybe having it all the way down and unhinged to the locking mechanism is a bad thing then...

I realize you guys don't need yet another confirmation of the issue, but my 2021 Heritage Edition's front passenger headrest rattled from the get-go. I took it back to the Toyota dealership and they said they couldn't fix it, and that it's just something I'd have to deal with. Based on the price and build quality/reputation of this vehicle, it's frustrating to say the least to have to put that headrest all the way down for it not to rattle. If anyone figures out a fix that is safe, I'd love to hear about it.

It’s a bit annoying. Try going down corrugated roads and the 2nd rows seats rattle like an old Ford truck. I hope we get the 300 series LX in the U.S. as I may just go that route next. Granted it will probably have an even bigger front grill that nearly touches the ground. 🙄

FWIW I think my ‘21 LX also has the front passenger headrest rattle. :(

For now I have lowered the headrest, will see what Lexus says when I take it in for the 5K service.

I’m willing to suffer a headrest issue over fundamental electrical issues plaguing the new Defenders. 🤷🏾‍♂️

My passenger headrest rattled ever since my '21 pickup in May. I've been communicating with corporate Toyota (800-331-4331) after the dealer wasn't going to do anything about it, claiming most of them rattled like that and there was no fix. Corporate scheduled a Toyota mechanic to come to the dealer and assess. This occurred yesterday and they ordered a new passenger headrest and brackets which they say should be a 20 minute install when parts arrive. I'll post an update when the parts arrive and installed.
