How the heck do I remove the headliner from the front of the vehicle? I really have to remove the windshield or something? I may have made a mistake thinking I can replace the headliner without too much hassle. Lol.

Yes the headliner is attached to the front of the roof behind the windshield seal. When I removed mine I cut it at the seal so I didn’t have to remove the windshield. If you’re wanting to use a similar style headliner for replacement you’ll need to come up with a way to attach it at the front. I used a later model headliner and the associated trim and it worked pretty well. It’s not perfect but it’s better than what was there before.

That's crazy. I'm welding up the sunroof that has leaked since I got it. So, I wanted to take out the whole sunroof cassette or whatever and figured I might as well tackle the headliner while I'm at it. I've replaced/restored a few headliners but never one like this. Crazy.

Nice project! I just completed mine.

As you've figured out, the windshield needs to come out to do it right. I'm considering building some brackets to hold the headliner by the windshield, similar to my 62 series Fire Truck.

Have you sourced the non-sunroof bows? There are 7, vs the 3 on a US 80.

Take a look at this thread for info on the OEM non-sunroof roof braces.
