Hi, I’ve looked through the posts but haven’t seen a tear down on headlights on the 2016 and newer LC. Has anyone opened them up to do a blackout? Just curious if it is straightforward or if there are any things to look out for when splitting them open.

Thanks!

It’s hard. With these sealed headlights you have to bake them to get the glue to soften. Do the black out like the heritage headlights and reassemble.

And these lights are expensive so if you screw up…

There is a company that does them and charges about 500 for the pair. I think I found them on Facebook.

Or buy hertitage headlights…which are pricey.

I've heard that it has been done. People have posted about it on here. Maybe Erik Sargeant? I don't think it turned out well.

Another option could be Heritage Edition light housings, if they aren't unobtanium.

Someone posted in the past with a bunch of carbon body parts and professionally blacked out lights by a reputable company. Even they had problems with getting error messages that they couldn’t keep cleared.

Does anyone have the P/N for the Heritage headlights? The second part of that would be to find a dealer that would actually sell you the HE headlights without actually owning an HE. Guess you could grab the VIN for one off of one for sale online lol.

You can call ed Martin Toyota. But I think he’s posted p/n for all the heritage parts in a post once.

But I think it’s like 1200-1500 each off the top of my head….but don’t quote me.

I second all the above, this is 2 spooky 4 me territory.
I already have some internal dust specs in my VERY expensive housings. Would hate to compromise those at all in any way internally.
There are smoke paint kits though that will be much more cost effective.
I know its not masking the internal shiny bits, but keep in mind those are engineered for throw and beam. I still would not recommend.

Looking into it more, what about having Lightwerkz do it, still think there is a risk with error messages and such?

I believe that is who did the lights that had errors in the build thread I cited.
