Well tonight I finally finished everything up and filled her up with oil and coolant and gave it a crank..........a bunch of cranks, no start, not even sure where to start, basically touched everything, it just cranks with no fire, any ideas, think its going to be a long weekend...............oh yeah and mother in law gets in tonight to top things off.................I'm going to bike to the store for beer

Did you reconnect the coil wire?

yes..............

'K,

Check the EFI fuse. Are you reasonably confident that the distributor is in the right place?

Did check the EFi to make sure I hadn't pulled it, but it was in place, pretty sure about the distributer, I lined the tick on the gear up and it looked to be pointing at #1 wire, how far off would I have to be before it doesn't fire, figured if I was off it would just run real rough............

If you are 180 degrees off it won't fire.

rotate the crank to get the timing mark at TDC and see if the rotor is pointing to #1.

Have you pulled the coil wire out of the cap and held it close to ground while cranking the engine to see if you have a spark?

No haven't pulled the coil wire yet, will begin the long process of rechecking everything first thing tomorrow, am thinking it is probably something with the timing, really didn't "change" anything else, I will mess around with the distributer and pull the valve cover if needed to make sure everything it lining up....................

I will be in the office tomorrow. Call me if you need a hand. 1-800-432-6668

way back when, I took the head off a Toy 4 cyl engine. (These were the good ole' days when I'd take an engine or trans apart with a screwdriver, some old pliers and a piece of wood... aaaah, youth! :D ) and when I put it back together I discovered that it was sucking air through the exhaust pipe and blowing air out of the carb...
didn't start either :D

If one tooth would make that big of difference it could def. be my problem............tomorrows a new day................thanks for the help guys, sorry to hear you are in the office tomorrow Dan but thanks for the offer, will double check everything and mess around with the timing and se where that leaves me...........

Hey Brent,

Sorry I missed your call, I was at a fund-raiser. I will call you in the morning. It sounds like you got your hands full!

Ding dong the idiots gone........................messed around with the tooth placement on the distributor a couple times then spun the crank 360 and put her back in, gave the bumper a little kiss and said a small prayer, and what do you know she started right up and I put a timing light on her and she's running great, am going to clean up the garage and take her out for a drive, think I got off 180/360 however you look at it because when I put the camshafts back in, I rotated them, must have only been 360, so thats probably what threw me off, thanks for all the friday night help, def. appreciate it.

Thanks Again
Brent
