Hey team, just ran my 90' HDJ81 on a little towing journey. 2,ooo km towing 750kg. She ran well, a tad hot but that was expected.

Got home and noticed fuel heavily dripping from my fuel lines. Realized in horror at how bad these 34 year old lines have gotten, completely blown out.

Been searching online for a total replacement for the hard lines, with no success. Should I be exploring a brand new braided line system of my own? What does everyone think?

Some photos attached of the rot.

Cheers,

I wouldn't choose braided line to run that far.

Braided line is problematic.

You could remove all your lines, take them to a hydraulic hose fitting business and have them replicated with suitable hard line.

Or, by hard line yourself, and a pipe bender, and bead roller and reproduce them yourself.

Good time to upgrade the supply line to 12mm which Toyota did as a recall item in the early 90s.

copper nickel hard line is very easy to work with that's what i would use. For sure upgrade to 12mm or 1/2" supply line.

Thanks boys. Just to confirm, 12mm is massive for those small hard lines..... are we talking about the same ones? The supply and return that run all the way back to the tank is what is totally rotted out.

Doing some more reading 12mm for supply and 8mm for return seem like the number. But lordie, that seems huge to me I DUUNO IM JUST A GUY

Correct.
The diesel is used to cool and lubricate the injection pump as well as feed the engine.

Toyota changed to 12mm feed to solve issues with fuel/ engine surge at highway speeds

Can you confirm your model and year?

I just redid my fuel lines, and it looks nothing like the pictures of the fuel brackets you posted.
