Alrighty, so looking forward to some feedback and opinions from the peanut gallery! 😑😛🤣

I changed it up on my dark color simply because the browns were either too gold or too much copper in them for me. So went to more of a gun metal on that color which I think still looks great.

I can’t decide if I do the dark color on top or bottom of the Cruiser. I had been decided on lighter up top but now am leaning more towards lighter down low. I have decided that my paint (cut) line will be on the upper body line not the lower. On two-tone 80’s it was the lower line but on other Cruisers like 60’s & 70’s series it was the upper body line.

So dark up top like this Prado?

Or dark down low like this 80?

I am leaning towards the low for the lighter color to be different and also to help with pinstripes down the side in the future, lighter colors take scratches better.

Cheers
I'm no boxrocket but here's some quick and dirty photoshops. I think I would vote darker on top, lighter on the bottom.

I think they both look great
But would go with the lighter on top simply because the lines of the hood & scoop seem to get lost with the dark color on top.

Will the lower color carry through onto the bed/tray or will it be black like the Photoshop pictures.

Top dark, much easier to hide pin stripes in lighter paint without compounding half your clear coat off.

Yes I do plan to carry the paint scheme through the bed.

Overall what you mention about the hood has been part of the decision making process. This paint though is very "3D" and also changes a lot in various light condition. Lower light it will be very dark, high sunlight not so much. I had actually made up my mind on the darker color being "smoked whiskey" but in bright sunlight it was just very gold in color, more gold than I wanted to do. Paint guy darkened it for me but then it was very copper.

It’s a crazy color, under some light it looks full on tan or sandy taupe, other light silver, even other light full on gold.

Under side of cab and front wheel wells got sprayable seam sealer and the Sahara Frost single stage on top of that.

In this pic you can clearly see where we sectioned out (cut out) some sheet metal and added some back in for tire clearance.

Sunset light makes this color look pinkish. 😑

We are done with the single stage, detailing the jams and then painting the exterior with the Cruiser assembled, less hood.

I didn’t feel the need to go higher here with the seam sealer. It will get a stock firewall pad, base/clear from here up too.

One more, I will be sound deadening the whole cab so this will all get covered up. Drilled holes are for attaching interior panels.

Top notch work as always!
